✨ Before & after photos always catch the eye.

They tell the story in just a second—but they rarely show the journey behind the result.

Today we’re excited to share another Success Smile transformation.

This case was anything but straightforward. Due to the impossibility of orthodontic treatment and the limitations created by existing prosthetic work, achieving the perfect result simply wasn’t an option. Sometimes dentistry is about finding the best possible solution within real-life constraints.

The final outcome is a compromise—but one I’m truly proud of. We significantly improved not only the patient’s smile, but also function and comfort.

What did we do?
✨ Increased the vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO)
✨ Restored worn tooth structure
✨ Lengthened the teeth
✨ Created a new tooth shape and brighter shade

Our patient was incredibly patient throughout several long appointments, and seeing their confidence with a new smile makes it all worthwhile.

This full rehabilitation was completed using the new Success Smile matrices in Enamel UD1.

SUCCESS SMILE | The Invisible Margin

“Don’t worry… the gums will heal…”

How many times have we heard that phrase? 😉

As dentists, we all hope that the soft tissues will look perfect after a composite restoration. But healthy gingiva is more than just an aesthetic outcome—it’s often a sign of a well-sealed restoration, precise ex*****on, and respect for the biological tissues.

So… how do we actually achieve that?

Especially when:

* you’re performing gingival recontouring during the same appointment,
* the composite margin needs to extend subgingivally,
* and ideal rubber dam isolation isn’t always possible.

There are many techniques.

My protocol starts with two essentials.

1️⃣ The right matrix.

There are countless matrix systems available today.

Transparent or metal.
Flexible or rigid.
Each has its place—but not every matrix performs well in demanding subgingival restorations.

2️⃣ Matrix adaptation and stability.

This is where the invisible margin is truly created.

How do you achieve perfect adaptation and keep the matrix absolutely stable throughout the procedure?

There are many options.
