Pinhole Surgical Technique
Just a couple of 2-3mm pinholes.
This treatment modality is done to gain root coverage, thicken the amount to soft and hard tissue for patients that present root exposure.
Often patient like these complain of root sensitivity and are advised to brush with a softer toothbrush and utilize root sensitivity toothpaste.
Other patients receive restorative treatment by removing tooth structure and adding composite filling materials to cover up the areas of root sensitivity.
If the issue is lack of soft tissue covering a root, why not consider soft tissue alternatives for root coverage.
There are other options. This is the least invasive available.

Soft tissue development is crucial for implant hygiene and esthetics. This can be done in a delayed approach, although in this case patient had molars removed and everything was done the same day. Same day tooth removal with surgical implant placement. Bone grafting and soft tissue emergence profile was developed in a single surgical procedure.
