The Palestinian Counselling Center (PCC) has successfully concluded the implementation of the “Increasing Access to Mental Health Services in Gaza for Children, Adolescents and Caregivers.” The project was implemented as part of the joint efforts of partners to enhance access to mental health and psychosocial support
services for children, adolescents, and caregivers in the Gaza Strip, and to ensure the provision of quality and comprehensive services that respond to the growing needs amid the difficult humanitarian conditions faced by the population. Throughout the project implementation period, a comprehensive package of mental health and psychosocial support interventions was provided in displacement camps, shelters, and local communities across North, Central, and South Gaza. These interventions included weekly clubs for children and adolescents, support groups, community awareness campaigns, individual and group psychological counseling, case management services, self-care activities for staff and service providers, as well as the distribution of psychosocial support kits for children, among other activities. The project contributed to creating supportive spaces where children and adolescents could express their feelings and reduce the psychological distress they experience. It also strengthened caregivers’ ability to cope with daily challenges and better support their children. In addition, the implemented activities helped raise awareness of mental health and the importance of seeking support, while enhancing resilience and psychosocial well-being among beneficiaries. The Palestinian Counselling Center affirms that the achievements of this project reflect the importance of effective partnerships and integrated humanitarian action in responding to the growing mental health and psychosocial needs of children and families in the Gaza Strip, particularly under the exceptional circumstances affecting the region.
These activities are part of the project Increasing Access to Mental Health Services in Gaza for Children, Adolescents, and Caregivers implemented by War Child in partnership with the Community Training and Crisis Management Center, Juzoor for Health and Social Development, and the Palestinian Counseling Center, in collaboration with the World Health Organization in the occupied Palestinian territory .
