Cooking class in Lhasa 🍵
Over the years, 50 people have stood at this cooking station with me — learning to fold momos, reading spice by smell, laughing and being guided by my friend who owns this extraordinary restaurant.
That’s a lot of karma softened over a shared stove.
This year, during Saga Dawa, something shifted in me as I stood there. Kitchens do that — they hold time differently than the rest of a house. Fire, hands, flour, intention. Standing in that same spot where I first stood so many years ago, I could feel exactly how much had changed. The insights came like steam. The resolutions folded themselves quietly in. As if cooking a yummy inner momo.
And this time — for the first time — we did it fully vegetarian. 🌿 A quiet wish, finally came true.
I’m so grateful for this group, for this kitchen, for my friend the chef and her friendly helping hands, for the alchemy that happens when people slow down enough, take what they have at hand, and focus, to cook something together.
