A favorite kind of update — two months after finishing therapy:

✔️ No more snoring
✔️ Tongue still resting in the right spot

Progress matters, but so does making sure it lasts.

That’s why I follow up after treatment ends — and if anything shifts later, my clients always know they can reach out. 💙

A release can create new mobility… but the goal is what the tongue can actually do with that new freedom.

This is the before… and the healed result. 👅

Better elevation. Better range. More opportunity for functional movement.

And this is why therapy around a release matters: anatomy can change quickly, but function still needs to be trained.

Mouth open. Snoring. Drooling. Teeth grinding. Restless sleep.

If several of these sound familiar, it may be worth looking at the bigger picture.

Reach out if you want help figuring out what may be contributing.

🥂 To the orthodontists who look past “straight teeth” and ask WHY they keep moving.

Tongue thrust is one of the most common - and most missed - reasons orthodontic results relapse.

A retainer can hold teeth in place, but if the muscle pattern behind the movement never gets addressed, it’s just buying time, not fixing the cause.

I love it when a provider catches this early and loops me in before relapse happens. That’s what real interdisciplinary care looks like!

Parents, had you heard of “tongue thrust” before this?

Here’s the hard truth:

tonsils this large can sometimes cause zero symptoms… and that’s exactly why size alone shouldn’t be the only thing we base a decision on.

When I’m assessing a child, I’m not just looking at how big the tonsils are.
I’m looking at the full picture: quality of sleep, breathing patterns, heavy breathing, gasping… how they’re actually functioning, not just what’s visible.

Big tonsils don’t automatically mean there’s a problem, and normal-looking tonsils don’t automatically mean there isn’t one. Symptoms are what tell the real story.

If any of this sounds familiar, reach out. Many parents find my evaluation helpful in putting it all together… DM me or book a free call. 💙

One thing I hear over and over, from the moms of the families I work with, the providers I collaborate with, and honestly from women in every part of my life, is some version of:

“I’m doing too much.”

We’re working. Parenting. Managing the house. Keeping track of appointments, meals, schedules, school, relationships, self-care, everyone else’s needs… and somehow still expecting ourselves to do it all well.

I always go back to this prompt & answer it differently each time:

What would my future self tell me today?

Today mine was basically:
You need to chill. Ask for help. Let people help. Stop acting like doing it all is the goal.

Not a pity post. Just a reminder that so many of us are juggling more than we realize… and maybe strength also looks like putting a few things down.

What would your future self tell you?

For my fellow healthcare professionals…

you took your first myofunctional therapy course, and now you’re not sure where to start.

That confused feeling?
Totally normal!

I’ve been doing myofunctional therapy since 2018.

Alongside my own practice, I offer 1:1 consulting for practitioners: covering intake forms, assessment questions, exercise plan building, and building referral relationships.

Took a course, but not sure where to start?
Let’s talk.

Sometimes the breathing concerns show up after orthodontic treatment is already complete.

That’s why it’s important to look beyond tooth alignment and consider the full picture: nasal breathing, tongue space, tongue posture, jaw position, and overall oral function.

A straight smile can still coexist with functional concerns… and those symptoms deserve to be evaluated.

The tongue tie world can be confusing. 🤔

Everyone seems to agree on an obvious one like this… but what about a tie that attaches 2mm from the tip?
3mm from the tip?
5mm from the tip?
Etc

This is why a myofunctional therapist doesn’t just look:
we assess function!

Range of motion, symptoms, & how the tongue actually works, not just what it looks like sitting still.

If you or your child have symptoms but were told ‘it’s not a tie,’ it might be worth a proper functional assessment. DM me or book a free call. 💙

Ok, that was dramatic! 😅

But I see this constantly… clients with night guards who still have jaw pain, clenching, TMJ discomfort… because the night guard was never treating the actual problem.

It protects your teeth, sure & there’s a place for it.
But it doesn’t address why you’re clenching in the first place: things like airway issues, tongue placement, rest posture, and muscle function.

Dentists, please don’t be mad at me! 🙏 🦷 😫

This is exactly where a myofunctional therapy assessment can help.

If this sounds like you, DM me or book a free call.
