We listen before we recommend anything.

It sounds like a small thing. It is the whole thing.

Most people arrive with a list they did not write. A scan someone mentioned. A check-up a friend did. A specialist whose name has been sitting in their notes for months. None of it says which one is theirs.

So Stephanie, our Care Lead, starts somewhere else. She asks what has changed. What has been waking you at four in the morning. What you have been calling normal because naming it felt like too much.

The direction comes from that conversation, never before it. Sometimes it is a full investigation. Sometimes it is one hour with one doctor.

What you leave with is clarity about the right move for this moment in your life.

Comment BEGIN below and Stephanie will take it from there.

One is on your birth certificate. The other is written in your biology.

Biological age reflects how your body is actually ageing — inflammation, metabolism, cardiovascular fitness, sleep.
It can be measured.
And, with the right direction, it can move.

That is where longevity medicine begins: not with advice, but with data.

🔹 Care. Continuous follow-up, adjusted as your data changes.

Our check-ups:

🔹 Longevity Check-up. An in-depth reading of you.

Open your watch and look at your resting heart rate this week. Then compare it with an ordinary working week in June.

If it has come down, your body was carrying load and the break took some of it off. If it has not moved, the load was never the main thing.

Read it carefully. Alcohol pushes it up, heat pushes it up, and one bad morning proves nothing. What you want is the pattern across the fortnight.

But resting heart rate is a blunt instrument. It will not tell you what sits behind the number.

When you are back from holiday, book an initial call. So that your September starts aligned with your health goals.

Rested and still tired. It is one of the most common things we hear in August.

Iron is usually the first marker people ask for, and one of the easiest to read wrong. A single value says very little on its own. It has to be read alongside ferritin, alongside inflammation, alongside the person it belongs to.

Summer changes the picture too. What you ate, what you drank, how much you sweated.

A room filled with curiosity and thirst for knowledge on a Thursday evening. That says something.

This week, we hosted B-Life Talks: The Final Stretch at the B-Life Clinic. The room was full of athletes preparing for Ironman Portugal Cascais. People weeks away from one of the hardest days of their year, who still chose to spend an evening learning how to do it better.

Sérgio Nuno, Physiotherapist (C.P. 3442), on the injuries that appear in the competition period and how to prevent them. Anderson Silva, Triathlon Coach, on load, periodisation and race tactics. Fábio Richter, BMotion Fitness, on strength training as protection for endurance performance.

But the real story was the audience. The questions kept coming long after the talks ended. Because the athletes who show up on race day strongest are usually the ones who showed up here first: curious, prepared, and willing to question their own training.

To everyone who joined us: thank you. See you at the start line.

B-Life Talks will return.

Most people now know alcohol carries risk. Almost nobody knows their own position in it.

Liver, inflammation, blood pressure, sleep, muscle. All measurable. All yours.

There’s an order to the hotel buffet, and it changes how you feel all morning.

You don’t need to resist it. Just follow the order:

✅ Protein first — eggs, yoghurt, cheese. It steadies your blood sugar.

✅ Then fibre and savoury — vegetables, a little bread, some fruit.

Eat slowly. Fullness takes 20 minutes to arrive.

✅ Pastry last — on a full stomach, it barely moves your glucose.

Walk 10 minutes after. It can cut the sugar spike by up to 50%.

Same breakfast. Same pleasure. No mid-morning crash.

The catch: your body’s response isn’t like anyone else’s. That’s what we measure — how your glucose actually behaves, so your plate is built around you.

Enjoy every bite. Book your appointment for when you’re back home - Link in bio

Give your body the same attention you gave the buffet.

This summer, take the full three weeks — and mean it.

In the Helsinki Businessmen Study, a 40-year follow-up of 1,200 male executives, those who took three weeks or less of annual holiday were 37% more likely to die over the following decades.

The striking part: this was the group coached on diet, exercise and weight. Their healthy habits didn’t make up for the rest they weren’t taking.

Sleep and rest sit at the centre of lifestyle medicine — not soft extras, but among the strongest predictors of how long and how well you live.

It’s the approach Dra. Joana Costa builds every plan around. She is B-Life’s Clinical Director and a specialist in Lifestyle and Longevity Medicine, and President of the Portuguese Society of Longevity Medicine and Science.

Her work starts by reading these signals in you — sleep, stress, recovery — and acting on them before they show up as disease.

So if you’d rather measure this than keep ignoring it, book an appointment with her.

Weight tells you almost nothing.

Two people at the same number can have entirely different bodies and entirely different ways of moving through the world.

What we read as beauty is rarely the size. It’s posture. Presence. The quiet confidence of someone at home in themselves.

That ease isn’t always effortless. Sometimes it’s inner work.

Sometimes it’s the right people beside you — helping you build a relationship with your body that’s based on how you want to feel, not how you’re told to look.
