💁🏼‍♀️I’m just a girl

Where does the self-confidence start?

In a quiet no.
When you stop accepting: being treated like you are a five-year old, being told what to do, being criticized for your life choices, being lied to, being the second option, being the one who sacrifices more, being called silly, dramatic, too much, weak and add your own example here…

Self-confidence starts when you stop justifying these behaviors and notice:
„I don’t deserve this kind of treatment”

Then you stand up for yourself for the first time and the world is in shock.

„What happened to her?”
„She was always so nice.”
„She always smiled. Maybe she’s having THESE DAYS.”

True self-confidence, not the „lipstick-and-high-heels-confidence”, not the „I’m-a-man-in-a-woman-body” confidence is an art of consistently respecting yourself and standing up for yourself every day.

It is helping others understand how they should treat you, openly communicating your needs and not asking for permission to live your life.

And it’s easier said than done.

Self-confidence is a topic of my work with both, women and men.

We often carry the patterns that tell us it’s better to give up, step down, stay small.
These patterns block you from standing strong on your feet.
They show up as tightnesses in the chest.

I have availability in August and September for individual sessions online and in person.

I’m starting a new project and looking for people who would like to participate in a free demo of the Somatic Experiencing technique.

If you’re dealing with any kind of stress or tension you’ll benefit from this session.

I need English-speaking people who would be willing to participate in an online demo with me. The session lasts 50 minutes. This method is more technique-based; we don’t enter into a therapeutic relationship.

The key piece of information is that I want this demo to be available live on Twitch (my channel is here: https://www.twitch.tv/lauradasilvaezequiel ). I have a whole 12 followers, haha 😃. The stream disappears after 7 days; I don’t save it anywhere. I think that for people unfamiliar with this method (most of the world), such a demo would better demonstrate its effects and benefits than me just talking about it. Let me know if you would be interested in trying it out.

Important: the person participating in the demo session can come without a topic or with something trivial (like, „I can’t relax”), so the session won’t reveal too many personal details.

Are you in?

Mother.

Whether you are 25 or 35

for her you are her precious little child

in the body of an adult, who has a job, partner and sometimes their own children.

YOU NEVER STOP BEING A CHILD OF YOUR MOTHER.

Mothers feel like they might have

not given everything to their children

when these children were little.

Maybe they didn’t give enough care

enough education

enough presence

enough money

„WHEN YOU WERE LITTLE... we had other things. We were building a house. Starting a company. Working 6 days a week.”

The time went by so fast.

Mother is worried that something was missing. And she’s trying to make up for it.

She tells you who to date
what to do
what to wear
what to eat

AND EVERYONE FEELS GUILTY

She feels guilty for not doing enough back then. You feel guilty for making your own choices now.

If you are an adult child of your mom

tell her:

„Mom, you did great as a mom.

You gave me enough. Thank you for

that. Now I will go and live my life.”

IF YOU ARE A MOM OF AN ADULT CHILD

You did your best as a mom. And that

was enough. Your child is doing okay.

Congratulate yourself. Your job is done.

If you are a mom of a little child

(from 0-7 years old ;))

Now is the time for you to be mom.

It’s only a few years. Soon you will see

your child walking out of the door into

their adult life.

Time is going that fast.

Put other things aside for the time being.
You’ll thank yourself later.

3 truths about fear:

1. Fear can quietly rule entire life. For years I didn’t even know that I had big fear inside me, I was just feeling stuck in all the areas of my life - work, relationship, family. After uncovering my fear it all made sense why I was not able to move to the job I like, find the partner I want and improve my family relations.

2. Fear always has a message to tell. „Ignore the fear and push through” ends up in a body sickness. The message my fear was carrying: I want to protect you from getting hurt by others.

3. Fear never disappears forever. When I did a big shift in my career, when I was dating my current husband, fear was always there. I listened to it, said „thank you” and decided what to do - not from the place of fear, but from the place of my heart.

For the constructive dialogue with your fear you can book a Somatic Experiencing session with me - I still have availability this summer 🤝

The key word is: less.

1. Productivity: I started doing nothing. I felt guilty at first but after a while I noticed how it can surface my true inner states (anxiety, anger, sadness) so that I can deal with them.

2. Matching other people’s expectations: I stopped picking up my phone, being available 24/7. I started to say „no” at work. I disappointed many people with my choices - but that’s the cost of making my own choices.

3. Rescuing others: when someone complains - I listen. I say: „that must be very hard…” and I pause. I let others take their problems in their own hands because that makes them feel empowered. And if they don’t pick up their own problem - I’m not the one who will do it for them.

4. Pretending: that I feel okay, that it is okay, that I like something, that there is no problem and that it is not a big deal.

5. Meeting beauty standards: I stripped everything artificial (nails, makeup) and everything uncomfortable (heels, tight jeans)

6. Being independent: when I need help I call my therapist. I take ready meals, herbs and little gifts from my parents. I ask my friends and my in-laws if they can help with work in the garden. I stopped racing for the badge „I did it all by myself”

7. Controlling: this is a hard one for me. I try to plan less, live my own life and let others live theirs.

8. Biting my tongue: instead of keeping quiet and blowing up when my patience is over I react the moment I feel the twist in my stomach. It prevents me from mental breakdowns.

9. Chasing status: I resigned from a job with a fancy job title.

10. Feeding my own illusions: „only one more month in this job”; „maybe this time he will be different” ; „If I plan it all out nothing will go wrong”
