Today we present you the last article from our 4th issue, a case report from GCM Hospital Senhora Oliveira - Guimarães and Centro Hospitalar de Trás os Montes e Alto Douro EPE about the treatment of femoral pseudoaneurysm.
Pseudo aneurysm can be described as a breach in the vessel wall such that blood leaks through the wall but is contained by the adventitia or surrounding perivascular soft tissue.
This article describes the case of a 79-year-old female who underwent an ultrasonographically guided thrombin injection for the the treatment of pseudoaneurysm occlusion. In order to avoid thrombin migration to the limb arteries, during the injection, the aneurysm neck was temporarily occluded by inflating a 5 mm balloon. At six months’ follow-up, the pseudoaneurysm remained occluded and the limb arteries were patent.
