FAMILIAR FACES
Apart from friends from India 🇮🇳 and all over the world, wonderful teachers, café owners and staff, landlords etc., there are these beautiful peeps I see over and over again, every time I come to Mysore. For the past 9 years.
They occupy little corners of the street — a pile of coconuts, a truck of fruit, a table covered in flowers for daily garlands, an iron and a few beautifully folded clothes, or indeed, a tuck tuck. Calling some of these places “kiosks” would be a considerable architectural exaggeration. 😁
Everything looks temporary.
Turns out, nothing is.
Some have been sitting in the same spot, running the same business, not for years, but for decades.
And they mean BUSINESS. 😎
They sell you fruit, coconuts, flower garlands, iron your clothes, give you a lift, greet you with a huge smile, have a little chat — or simply wave when they see you passing.
You leave Mysore.
You come back.
They’re still there.
Same corner. Same trade. Very often, the same enormous smile.
I know these people and I like them.
After 9 years of coming back, they have quietly become part of my Mysore too. 🇮🇳❤️
