🤝Shoulder to shoulder, for more opportunities for a better life and fewer obstacles.

📆Throughout October, patients with an indication for robotic surgery benefit from a €1,500 reduction in the cost of their procedure.

✨At our center, Dr. Gabriel Mitroi and Dr. Sabrina Florea use robotic surgery in selected cases where this approach is considered the best treatment option.

✅Our aim is to make robotic surgery more accessible to patients who are likely to benefit from this approach.

Five years after surgery, long-term follow-up remains one of the most relevant ways to assess the real impact of treatment.
Outcomes measured over time provide a more meaningful perspective than the immediate postoperative period alone, particularly when we evaluate pain control, daily functioning, and overall quality of life.
Over the years, Bucharest Endometriosis Center has treated patients from many countries, creating an international patient community connected by the same need for specialized care and long-term results.
These follow-up stories are an important part of understanding what surgery can achieve beyond the operating room.

🇬🇧 Intrinsic endometriosis of the pelvic somatic nerves (sciatic nerve/pudendal nerve) is extremely rare. Most of the time there are neurological manifestations (somatic or vegetative) in the case of endometriotic lesions at the level of the deep parametrium (in fact the lesion is at the level of the paravaginal and parare**al tissue) and compresses the sacral plexus or even the sciatic nerve.
This type of lesions is quite common in the case of advanced re**al endometriosis (bulky endometriotic lesions, localized at the level of the mid-rectum) but it doesn’t represent truly endometriotic nerve lesions.
Intrinsic endometriotic lesions, which infiltrates the sciatic nerve (most often the lumbo-sacral trunk), as it is presented in the case below, are extremely rare. In more than 8 years of activity of our center, with an experience of over 3000 cases of endometriosis operated, we have operated only 5 such cases. The surgical intervention involves a dissection of the muscular, vascular (arterial and, more deeply, venous) and nervous and musculo-skeletal planes (underlying, the iliac bone and the piriformis muscle) and is extremely complex considering the risk of nerve (nerves other than the affected nerves) or vascular damage, which can endanger the patient's life. Therefore, I consider these cases to be the most complex, from a surgical point of view, of deep endometriosis.
Most of the time, during surgical exploration (laparoscopic/robotic), at the peritoneal level there may be minimal endometriotic lesions, or no lesion at all; therefore, in these cases, the clinical, neuropelveological (neurological) examination, along with MRI examination (performed by an experienced radiologist), have a decisive role in the topographic diagnosis of the endometriotic lesion. The transvaginal ultrasound examination, even performed by an experienced imaging/gynecologist, has its limits in such cases.
Most patients who arrive at our center with neurological symptoms (sciatica, pudendal pain) do not have endometriosis with nerve damage, but rather a nerve compression syndrome (most commonly, vascular-nervous conflict).

Below is a video of an intervention performed at our center for intrinsic endometriosis on the sciatic nerve, where we had to sacrifice nerve fibers affected by the disease.
