Two weeks ago, I facilitated a workshop on ethics in psychotherapy for a group of future colleagues (trainees in their final year, soon to be certified), and I found myself deeply immersed in the learning process — for myself, for them, and for us as a group.

For myself, I thought that I would have loved for someone to teach me about ethics in the way I approached it. It might sound grandiose — and perhaps it is — yet I believe that we learn best when we teach a subject.

The group agreed that my psychological contract (expectation) of making the workshop feel like a juicy steak rather than a dry one was achieved. The special ingredients? A focus on the “new ethics” from the Adult ego state, with a touch of the Child ego state in the teaching methodology.

For us as a group, we learned together: we brought ideas to life, read two ethical codes in record time, and acted as members of an Ethics Committee to put learning into practice.

I think what I want to say is that learning never stops.

After this workshop, I feel more aware of the different flavours of specific topics within the broad field of ethics. Some of them will be very useful for my TSTA exam.

One never stops learning. The moment you think you know it all is often the moment you realise how much you still don’t know.

Yesterday I facilitated a workshop for Romanian parents together with World Vision Romania.

We talked about teenagers, school, hope — and about the daily effort parents make, often quietly, to support their children.

At some point I shared a few numbers from PISA and OECD:

39% of children in Romania grow up at risk of poverty or social exclusion.
16.8% of young people leave school early — the highest rate in the EU.

Not because they are less capable nor because parents care less. But because life sometimes asks for results now, not later.

What I keep thinking about today is not the statistics.
It is the parents who showed up, listened, asked questions, and stayed in the conversation.

Change in education may be slow.
But it often begins exactly like this — with people willing to reflect together.

Changing seasons

Spring reminds us that learning is never a solitary act.
It happens in community: in circles of trust, in shared questions, in the courage to grow together.

Winter may have been a time of quiet preparation, of listening and waiting.Now, as the light returns, we gather again to plant seeds of knowledge, curiosity, and connection.

As facilitators, our role is not to push growth,but to hold the space where growth becomes possible —to create warmth, safety, and presence,so that each voice can find its place in the learning community.

Education, like spring, is a collective act of hope.

Almost a month since the CPC conference and the processing is still going.
I facilitated a workshop called “Van desinteresse naar nieuwsgierigheid” — from disinterest to curiosity — for about sixty educators. The starting point was a question I find myself returning to often: what happens to physis — that natural life force that drives curiosity and growth — when a child moves through a system that was not designed to protect it?

The preparation mattered to me. I believe in what Giles Barrow calls natality — the idea that education is an act of rebirth. So I prepared seed envelopes as a symbol of physis and designed the session around the Mantle of the Expert method.

My partner helped me by “playing” the role of the school director calling for help. The room became the expert team. What I enjoyed most was tasting exactly what I had proposed — learning through genuine interaction with the group.
The thing I keep coming back to: educators don’t create curiosity. But they can protect, awaken and nurture it.
