Tuesday 2017 is coming!

GlobalGiving’s 2017 campaign will begin November 28th, 2017, at 00:00:01 EST and end at 23:59:59 EST on November 28th, 2017. This year projects will be competing for a portion of $75,000 Incentive Fund. It means, if the Karelian Registry, for example, raises 2% of the total dollars raised on Giving Tuesday, it will be awarded 2% - or $1150 - of the Incentive Fund.

$1150 means 10 new bone marrow donors included in the Registry and in the world data base. And each donor gives people with leukemia and other blood disorders the second chance for life.

There will be a 100% match on all recurring donations started on up to $200. The initial donation will count towards your total funds raised on the 28th. All donations from all donors will count all day!

First, here are the results of the longest September campaign, timed to the world Day of bone marrow donors (16 September) and world day of fight against leukemia (24 September). It was the fifth and final event in the framework of the project "500+", which became a grant holder of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation. We exceeded our commitments! In total, 55 new donors have been recruiting during this campaign and 9 people, who are in the database and previously were typed with a minimum amount of parameters, passed the test for extended typing. The next recruiting campaign will be held on November 7th – 10th.

In total, for nine months of 2017 we have held 4 recruiting campaigns, which were attended by 465 people. 426 people became new potential bone marrow donors. 39 people, previously registered, passed the extra typing, and now their compatibility settings are complete and ready to be used in the global database.

And we have remarkable news to share with you: the Karelian Register is among the finalists of the prestigious award of one of the most respected charities in our country - "Gift of Life" https://podari-zhizn.ru/main/node/30072. This prize is annually awarded to nonprofit organizations that help children and young adults with hematological malignancies. We are so happy! This is recognition and appreciation of work of our entire team, all the volunteers, all who have provided platforms for our campaigns and helped to disseminate the information about the Registry. The Karelian Registry continues it’s the main activity: recruiting potential bone marrow donors. The fall recruiting campaign started on August 29th in Kostomuksha and Anadyr, and September 8th and 9th two more cities, Rostov-na-Donu an Sortavala, joined it September 8th and 9th accordingly. In Petrozavodsk the recruiting campaign was timed to The World Donor day September 16th and was held within the Petrozavodsk festival “Dobrofest”. The third year in the raw The World Donor day takes place under the same motto: “Thank you, Donor!”

The Petrozavodsk recruiting events began September 15th in The Youth City Center and continued on the next day in the Registry’s favorite spot – the club “Begemot”. September 17th , within “Dobrofest”, the Registry held an information session about bone marrow donorship that took attention of many people and turned to be quite successful.

And this is not the end. The fall recruiting campaign continued September 24th, on the World Day of Fighting Leukemia. Dozens of the Petrozavodsk State University students attended The Volunteer Donor Movement School. It means The Karelian Registry of Bone marrow Donors has great supporters, and all together we continue our work. Together we can do anything!
