After an intensive week in the wet lab at IRCAD Africa, our faculty experts and participants took a special moment to unwind and experience the richness of Rwandan culture with a visit to Inganzo Art Center in Masaka.

The group explored the traditions behind the iconic Inyambo cows, learned about Rwanda’s Royal King’s Palace, and visited a medicinal plant garden showcasing the country’s deep-rooted healing heritage.

A memorable cultural exchange bringing together participants from Saudi Arabia, Botswana, Nigeria, and France, among others, proving that beyond surgical training, experiences like these create lasting global connections.

As we conclude the 5-Day Intensive Basic Laparoscopic Urological Surgery Course at IRCAD Africa, we celebrate a week of immersive learning, hands-on practice, and international collaboration dedicated to advancing minimally invasive urological surgery.

A key highlight of the course was the two live surgeries performed at Rwanda Military Teaching Hospital and transmitted directly to our auditorium, giving participants the unique opportunity to follow each procedure in real time and engage in live Q&A sessions with the operating surgeons. This interactive experience bridged theory and practice, offering invaluable insight into surgical decision-making, technique, and patient care.

As participants return to their institutions equipped with strengthened skills and knowledge, the impact of this course continues far beyond the training, contributing to improved surgical outcomes, expanded access to minimally invasive care, and the continued growth of surgical excellence across the region.
