The welding has stopped. Can the fire watch leave?
It sounds like a simple question—until you are the person responsible for keeping the area safe.
What is the minimum time a fire watch must remain after welding or cutting is finished?
A. 5 minutes
B. 15 minutes
C. 30 minutes
D. 60 minutes
For anyone preparing for the Saudi Aramco Work Permit Receiver (WPR) assessment, understanding the reason behind a safety requirement matters just as much as remembering the answer.
From my own experience, preparation starts with understanding three important subjects:
• Hazard Recognition and Control
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
• Confined Space Entry
I have put together a practical guide explaining these units, the company-sponsored training route I followed, and the steps leading towards the WPR examination. The three study-book downloads are included at the end.
Read the guide and access the books here:

Which answer would you choose—and what should the fire watch be checking during that time?
