This is Entrapta, a character from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
Last year, one of my students asked whether Entrapta might be autistic or have ADHD.
Of course, we cannot diagnose fictional characters. However, Entrapta is a thoughtful and interesting example of how "neurodifference" can be represented in media.
In the show, Entrapta:
✅focuses very deeply on her interests
✅enjoys routines, patterns, and systems
✅communicates in a direct and literal way
✅finds unspoken social rules difficult
✅shows strong interests in science and technology, sometimes to the point of missing social expectations (for example, loyalty to whoever provides her the parts for her machine rather than people)
Importantly, the show does not show her as broken. She was not required to change who she is to be accepted. Her differences are treated as part of her identity. Entrapta can be seen as a positive example of what neurodiversity can look like in girls and women who are frequently underrepresented in the media.
