IQoro Home Are you suffering from reflux, snoring or sleeping apnoea? We have the solution. IQoro.

IQoro is a neuromuscular training device that naturally treats the root cause of, for example, reflux, snoring, sleep apnoea and swallowing difficulties. 90 seconds of exercise per day provides proven effect by strengthening weakened internal muscles that you cannot access otherwise. The twenty years’ research and the scientific studies that support the methodology are clearly listed and referenced on our website www.iqoro.com.

Snoring is more than just a sound – it can be a sign that the muscles in your throat and upper airways have become weakened.

When the soft palate relaxes too much, the airway narrows and the surrounding tissues begin to vibrate. Over time, these vibrations can damage the nerves and muscles, making the problem worse. If the weakened airway muscles collapse and block the airflow, pauses in breathing can occur – known as apnoeas.

IQoro provides daytime neuromuscular training for all 148 muscles involved in the swallowing process, including the soft palate, throat and upper airways. Stronger muscles help keep the airway open while you sleep.

Just 3×30 seconds of training per day.

You can choose to start swallowing – but you can’t consciously control the entire muscle chain that follows.

Many of the muscles involved in swallowing and reflux protection work automatically. Since you can’t activate them at will, they require a different kind of training.

IQoro uses neuromuscular training to activate the muscle chain from the mouth and throat down to the diaphragm. Just 30 seconds, three times a day.

Reflux does not always feel like heartburn.

GERD/GORD, silent reflux and LPR may cause different, but often overlapping, symptoms. Some are felt in the chest, while others affect the throat and voice.

A persistent cough, hoarseness, throat irritation or a lump sensation may therefore be connected to reflux, even without typical heartburn.

Save this overview to help you recognise the different symptom patterns.

If you experience new, persistent or worsening swallowing difficulties, seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Michael found relief from acid reflux

For 15 years, Michael struggled with anxiety and physical symptoms, including panic, nausea and stomach acid rising into his throat. He tried medication, consulted six psychologists and explored breathing exercises, hypnosis and mindfulness, but nothing helped.

Then he found IQoro.

After a few months of training, Michael began noticing improvements. Six months later, his acid reflux was almost completely gone, and he could once again enjoy social activities. Today, he travels for work, attends events and has even fulfilled his dream of going to the Maldives with his wife.

“IQoro has completely changed my life. It is, by far, the best purchase I have ever made.”

Michael, Aabenraa, Denmark

You swallow about 600 times every day. Each time, the body needs to coordinate 148 muscles, protect the airways, and transport food or drink towards the stomach.

The swallowing process consists of four phases:

1. The body prepares itself when you see and smell the food.

2. In the mouth, you chew and process the food using voluntary movements.

3. When the food reaches the throat, the swallowing reflex takes over. The larynx rises and the airways are protected as the food passes through.

4. The muscles of the oesophagus then transport the food to the stomach through coordinated wave-like movements.

The neural pathways between the mouth and the brainstem function like a hardwired alarm system, rapidly transmitting information about pressure, touch, taste, and temperature to the brain.

The brainstem interprets these signals and activates a pre-programmed response that coordinates swallowing and protects the airways. This makes the interaction between the mouth, brain, and swallowing reflex one of the body’s fastest biological safety mechanisms.

The reflex-controlled pharyngeal phase takes only around 0.5 to 1 second. What we experience as a simple swallow is therefore the result of advanced and precise coordination between the brain, neural pathways, and muscles from the mouth to the stomach.

When the diaphragm and muscles in the swallowing chain do not function as they should, a range of symptoms may occur, including:

• Difficulty swallowing
• Reflux and heartburn
• Globus sensation
• Mucus in the throat
• Snoring

Swallowing may feel simple, but every swallow requires precise coordination between the mouth, brain, nerves and muscles.

IQoro is a neuromuscular training device developed by a dentist and based on research and evidence. It is designed to activate the swallowing reflex and train the muscles involved in swallowing, including involuntary muscles.

Train for just 90 seconds a day at home.

90 SECONDS A DAY. THREE MONTHS. AHI ALMOST HALVED.

AHI - Apnoea Hypopnea Index- (BREATHING INTERRUPTIONS PER HOUR)

In a Swedish pilot study, ten people with diagnosed obstructive sleep apnoea added IQoro neuromuscular training to their existing CPAP treatment.

They trained for 30 seconds, three times per day, over three months.

The results:

→ Mean AHI decreased from 36.6 to 17.7
→ The group average moved from severe to moderate sleep apnoea
→ 9 out of 10 participants moved to a lower severity category
→ Five finished in the mild category and four in the moderate category
→ The most severely affected participant improved from an AHI of 59.3 to 35.4, although remaining in the severe category

The participants’ average BMI remained virtually unchanged, indicating that weight loss was unlikely to explain the improvement. The participants were from eight different independent sleep institutes around Sweden.

Why could neuromuscular training matter?

When upper-airway muscle function is reduced, the tongue and soft tissues can fall backwards during sleep and narrow or block the airway. IQoro is designed to activate and train the neuromuscular chain involving the tongue, soft palate and throat.

The study is small, so the results should be interpreted as promising pilot data - not definitive evidence. Larger controlled studies are needed.

Importantly, all participants continued using CPAP during the study. The findings support further research into IQoro as a potential complement to CPAP, not a replacement.

The body’s natural anti-reflux barrier is not formed by one muscle alone. The lower oesophageal sphincter, LES, and the diaphragm work together. with a total of 148 muscles.

Video 1 – when the muscles work properly

Every swallow triggers a coordinated chain reaction involving 148 muscles. The oesophagus transports food downwards, while the LES and the opening in the diaphragm relax briefly to let it pass. They then close again, helping to keep stomach contents where they belong.

Video 2 – when muscular support is weakened

If the support around the opening in the diaphragm becomes weakened, the LES and the upper part of the stomach can slide above the diaphragm. The LES then loses part of the external support normally provided by the diaphragm, weakening the natural anti-reflux barrier.

Many of the muscles involved in the later stages of swallowing cannot be controlled consciously. They are activated through nerve signals and reflexes from the brain. This is why IQoro uses neuromuscular stimulation to activate the swallowing-related muscle chain – from the mouth and throat down to the diaphragm.
