We love seeing people imagine what Umeå could become when we make more space for the river in our everyday lives.

Thank you for these beautiful words and for asking the bigger question: What could Umeå become if Umeälven became a bigger part of the city’s heart? 🌊

We believe the river has so much potential: as a place to swim, move, meet, rest, connect with nature, each other and simply be. And we believe that making the river more accessible and more alive is something we can create together.

What we have built at Umeå Kallbad started with a small group of people who had an idea and decided to make it happen. Since then, hundreds of people have contributed with their time, skills, energy, ideas and financial support. Every step, every plank and every little improvement has been made possible by people who care about this place.

And we want to keep going.

We hope this conversation continues and that more people, organisations, businesses and decision-makers start imagining what could be possible along Umeälven. We would love to see more initiatives, more places to meet the water and more collaboration around making the river a natural part of life in Umeå. 💙

🌊 Welcome to Riverfest 🫧

A celebration of the river, community and summer.

On 25 July, Bölesholmarna transforms into a riverside festival where adventure and relaxation come together.

Choose your way down the river:

🦦 The Drift – a relaxed ~5 km float downstream on anything that floats.

🏊 The Swim – the same route for those who’d rather swim.

✨ The Folkfest
Once everyone arrives, the celebration continues on shore with sauna, music, food, activities and plenty of time to enjoy the river together.

Whether you’re joining one of the river activities or simply coming to enjoy the Folkfest, everyone is welcome.
