This week, as our shala gathers to celebrate Local Teacher’s Day, our hearts turn to Sita, our beloved teacher, with deep appreciation. Her dedication, care, and passion shine through every class, and her one‑of‑a‑kind Ashtanga teaching has touched each of us far beyond the mat.

Through her tireless commitment, we have grown not only in physical practice but also in life, carrying lessons that continue to guide us each day.

Daily Mysore develops a stable and gradual practice.
Although led classes are not meant for daily practice, students are encouraged to attend occasional led sessions (traditionally once a week). Following the teacher's counting in led class helps refine:
• Breathing rhythms - not too slow, not too fast
• Vinyasa counting - synchronizing movement and breath
• Asana names in Sanskrit — building familiarity with traditional terminology
• Drishti focus - cultivating concentration and awareness
• Stamina - strengthening endurance through steady practice

Joining our full primary led class at Mysore Breathing Room shala every:
• Second tuesday of the month

In Mysore Ashtanga method, skipping difficult poses and moving ahead is not allowed without the teacher’s guidance. Why?

Because the sequence is crafted with intent — each asana prepares the strong foundation for the next. Stopping at an asana does not mean the journey halts or turns backward. Quite the opposite—it is where true progression unfolds. Each pause is not stagnation but deepening and strengthening. Opportunities to observe more clearly, embrace more deeply, and improve the self. Allow more time for both the mind and the body to enhance strength, flexibility and resilience. It is to recognize that growth is not always movement, but sometimes stillness. Skipping asanas and rushing forward mirrors the same patterns of avoidance in life. The Mysore method honors each practitioner’s unique timing. Patience allows the physical body and the mind to be truly ready for safe, holistic and transformative growth — not just the acquisition of a list of asanas.

We are opening a limited number of places in our upcoming 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training for teachers who have already completed a recognised 200-hour programme and wish to deepen their knowledge and refine their teaching practice.

This pathway is designed for certified teachers who want to revisit the full training in a structured environment, strengthen their understanding, and continue developing both their practice and teaching skills.

Rather than joining as first-time trainees, experienced teachers will participate as part of a continuing professional development journey. You will move through the complete curriculum alongside new trainees, while contributing your own insights and experience.

The programme covers the full syllabus: asana practice, pranayama, meditation, anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy and ethics, teaching methodology, observation, sequencing, and teaching practice.

We believe repeating a comprehensive training can be especially valuable once you have begun teaching. Concepts that may have felt abstract during your initial TTC often take on new clarity when revisited with real classroom experience.

Eligibility
This pathway is open only to teachers who have already completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training and can provide proof of certification.

Traditional Ashtanga is a balanced practice, including dynamic vinyasas interlaced with stilling asanas across each sequence. Each asana is held steadily for five conscious breaths. These tranquil pauses:
• ignite internal heat
• calm the nervous system throughout challenging asanas
• trigger the Bohr Effect to enhance oxygen release as well as accelerate cellular repair and recovery
• increase physical stamina and mental resilience
• force awareness into the present moment
• direct vital energy flow
• give space for mind and body unite
