We are heartened to partner Cheng Hong Welfare Service Society - Singapore for Ruo Xuan's final journey and provide her pro bono funeral venue & final resting place at Woodlands Memorial

One of her final wishes was to have her ashes placed in a columbarium niche; without further burdening her family whose resources has been severely depleted by her long term cancer treatment.

We have been deeply moved by the unexpected outpouring of love and support from so many people.

Ruo Xuan has two younger twin sisters, who are both currently studying in polytechnic and also require ongoing long term medical care. If you would like to support them in any way, please reach out to us here. We will ensure that your well wishes and offers of help are passed on to the family. 🙏🏻

Death is a subject many people avoid. But for Shane, it became a calling.

CNA recently featured the quiet but deeply meaningful work of volunteers who accompany seniors on their final journey, ensuring that no one leaves this world alone.

It reminded us of something we witness more often than many people realise.

Some people leave this world surrounded by generations of family. Others do not. Some have no next of kin. Some have no one to make arrangements on their behalf. Yet every life deserves to be honoured with the same care, dignity, and respect.

That is why our partnership with Cheng Hong Welfare Service Society means so much to us. Together, we support pro bono funeral cases for individuals who might otherwise have no one to walk this final stretch with them. It is work that constantly reminds us that compassion is not only about how we say goodbye, but also about how we care for one another along the way.

That belief is also why our collaboration extends beyond funeral services. Its include wake venues and a niche for their final resting place in Woodlands Memorial.

Behind every funeral is a person with a lifetime of memories. Someone who had dreams, routines, favourite meals, friendships, and stories. Someone who made an impact, however quiet, on the people around them.

We are grateful to stand alongside Cheng Hong Welfare Society's volunteers, social workers, and everyone who gives their time and heart to ensure that no one is forgotten.

In the end, perhaps the greatest kindness we can offer is simply to make sure that every goodbye is met with dignity, respect, and the reassurance that someone cared enough to be there.

On 11 July 2026, our CEO, Jason Poh, attended IRIR Night 2026, an evening dedicated to celebrating the racial and religious harmony that makes Singapore so special.

At Woodlands Memorial, this spirit of harmony is something we witness every day. We are proud to be Singapore's only funeral parlour that caters to all major religions under one roof, supporting families from Buddhist, Taoist, Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Freethinker communities with dignity and respect.

While our beliefs and traditions may differ, the love we have for our families is universal. In times of loss, compassion, understanding, and respect bring people together, regardless of race or religion.

We are grateful to be part of a diverse Singapore where people of different faiths can live, work, and support one another in harmony. As always, we remain committed to providing a sanctuary where every family feels welcomed, understood, and cared for.

It's hard to put into words what these reviews mean to us.

Every family who walks through our doors is going through one of the toughest times in their lives. Being able to support them, even in a small way, is something we never take lightly.

El Niño may begin in the Pacific Ocean, but its effects are felt right here in Singapore.

With a higher likelihood of El Niño returning in 2026, Singaporeans could experience hotter temperatures, drier weather, increased heat stress, higher utility consumption, and a greater risk of regional haze.

While these changes affect daily life, they can also impact families during one of life's most important moments, saying goodbye to a loved one. Long hours in hot and humid conditions can be physically demanding for family members, guests, and especially the elderly.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝟐,𝟎𝟎𝟎-𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🐉

Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival, we enjoy dragon boat races and savour delicious zongzi. But have you ever wondered how these traditions began?

The festival is closely tied to the story of Qu Yuan, a loyal poet and minister who lived more than 2,000 years ago in ancient China.

Qu Yuan was deeply devoted to his country, the State of Chu. He warned the king about growing threats from rival states, but his advice was ignored after jealous officials turned the king against him. Exiled from the capital, Qu Yuan watched helplessly as his beloved homeland declined.

When the capital of Chu eventually fell to enemy forces, Qu Yuan was overcome with grief. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, he threw himself into the Miluo River as a final act of loyalty to his country.

According to legend, villagers rushed out in boats to search for him, beating drums to scare away fish and throwing rice into the water to protect his body. These acts are said to have inspired the dragon boat races and zongzi that we know today.

More than two millennia later, Qu Yuan's story continues to remind us of the values of loyalty, integrity, and devotion to something greater than ourselves.
