I’m delighted to share that Dr Jong Sze Chin has joined the Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Partners (OHP) team!

Dr Jong is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine dedicated to helping patients regain independence and quality of life. With extensive experience across the National University Health System (NUHS)—including National University Hospital, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, and the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore—she has supported recovery for individuals facing stroke, spinal cord injuries, musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries, and cancer-related impairments.

Her expertise includes advanced non-invasive interventions such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, prolotherapy, dry needling, extracorporeal shock wave therapy, and intrathecal baclofen pump management. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), holds a Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine (GDSM), and is a specialist accredited in Rehabilitation Medicine in Singapore.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Jong contributes actively to public and professional service. She serves with the Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) and the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM), where she is Vice Chair of the World Youth Task Force and Singapore Ambassador. She also sits on the Medical Advisory Panel for the Singapore Disability Sports Council, championing inclusive sports and disability advocacy.

We firmly believe that the addition of Dr Jong will significantly strengthen our team at OHP and enable us to continue providing excellent and holistic care for our patients.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything but this development certainly deserves posting!

I’m proud to share that Dr Lau Leok Lim has joined the Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Partners (OHP) team!

Dr Lau is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who subspecializes in Spine Surgery and has a special interest in Paediatric Spine Surgery. He graduated in 2002 and became a specialist in 2011. He subsequently underwent 3 years of Spine Surgery training, including a year-long fellowship in Paediatric Spine Surgery at the Nemours-A.I duPont Hospital for Children in the US.

He practised exclusively in Spine Surgery for more than a decade at the National University Hospital (NUH), where he worked closely with paediatricians to optimize the care of children with complex spinal disorders.

He was also the Project Director of the National Scoliosis Screening Programme for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS). The decade-long project successfully achieved its goal of reducing the progression and severity of scoliosis in the community using a multi-disciplinary approach.

We firmly believe that the addition of Dr Lau will greatly strengthen our team at OHP, and enable us to continue providing excellent and holistic care for our patients.

I was delighted to chair the CME lecture highlighted below. Organized by IHH and Gleneagles Hospital, it featured Dr Poh Keng Soon from Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Partners. He spoke about the evaluation and management of common conditions causing shoulder pain in the primary care setting. It was well-attended and generated many pertinent and interesting questions during the discussion. Thanks very much Mun Yee from IHH Medical Affairs for organizing this!

The Indian High Commission in Singapore hosted a reception at Shangrila-La hotel on 29 January 2024 to commemorate India’s 75th Republic Day. Republic Day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of India, and the country's transition to a republic on 26 January 1950.

Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Communication and Information and 2nd Minister for Home Affairs, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

I was proud to represent Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Partners at the event.

We’re happy to look after the musculoskeletal care needs of the staff (and family members) of the Indian High Commission in Singapore, and are committed to providing them and all of our patients with excellent holistic evidence-based care!

We’re proud to welcome Dr Poh Keng Soon to the Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Partners (OHP) team!

Dr Poh is a fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon, who sub-specializes in minimally invasive keyhole (arthroscopic) and joint replacement (arthroplasty) surgeries of
the shoulder and elbow joints. In particular, he performs a high volume of shoulder replacement surgeries for advanced arthritis. He performs these surgeries with computer planning and 3D printed patient-specific instrumentation to ensure ideal implant placement and optimal clinical outcomes.

Dr Poh previously practised at the National University Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, where he was a key member of the Sports Medicine, Shoulder and Elbow Division, handling large volumes of simple and complex orthopaedics cases.

Dr Poh completed orthopaedic specialist training and was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2018. Dr Poh subsequently received the Singapore Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Plan award to further pursue his subspecialty training in Melbourne, Australia with special focus on sports, shoulder and elbow surgery. During this stint, he gained valuable experience in treating complex shoulder and elbow injuries, especially among professional athletes.

The festive season is upon us and it is customary to share gifts with our friends and colleagues. At Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Partners (OHP), we have tried to combine the sharing of corporate gifts with support for social enterprise.

This year our gifts consisted of scrumptious cookies from MINDS Bakers - a social enterprise programme developed by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore. We’re sure our friends enjoyed them as much as we did.

At Orthopaedic and Hand Surgery Partners (OHP), our staff work hard and go beyond the call of duty to provide our patients with the best possible care. This would not be possible without the support and encouragement they receive from their own families - husbands, wives, parents and children, among others.

To show our appreciation to this extended family, OHP organized a weekend getaway to Montigo Resorts in Batam for its staff and family members. While there, we took part in several group activities to strengthen our cohesion and commitment to doing our best for our patients.

Kudos too to the staff of Montigo Resorts for making our trip a truly enjoyable experience!
