If your daughter (or son) has been hiding behind her hair, cancelling plans, or going quiet when someone mentions her skin, you already know it can feel like more than “just acne.”
And as a parent, it can be difficult to know when teenage breakouts are something she’ll simply grow out of - and when it may be time to seek professional advice.
Acne at 16 is a medical condition, not simply a cosmetic concern. Hormones, genetics, oil production and other factors can contribute, and different types of acne may require different approaches.
When acne is persistent or inflammatory, early and appropriate management can also help reduce the risk of lasting marks and scarring.
But bringing your teenager to see a doctor doesn’t mean committing her to treatment.
At The Clarion Practice, the first step is a conversation. We listen to what’s bothering her, assess her skin and discuss what may be appropriate for her age, skin and individual concerns.
There’s no pressure to rush into anything. Any next steps are considered carefully and explained clearly.
Because sometimes, knowing what’s happening with her skin - and knowing there are options - is a good place to start.
Treatment recommendations are made following individual medical assessment. Our doctor will advise on what is clinically appropriate for your child’s specific skin concerns and age.
