This is Max. In 1998, he was the first child in the world to be bilaterally implanted.

He was born with profound hearing loss, but at the time, people didn't think hearing with two cochlear implants was important or even possible.

And now? Max is an engineer and works for MED-EL, helping to improve the technology for all the other kids!
