Last letter game - Anatomy edition ๐Ÿฉป

Your word starts with the last letter of the one before it.
The rules: Bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves only. No repeats.

Easy for the first few rounds then there's a surprising number of them end in S and the whole thing gets tight fast.

Our physios made it to supinator. Pick it up from there in the comments and see how far you get ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

From shoulder pain with every punch ๐ŸฅŠ to getting back in the ring.

Shoulder pain isnโ€™t just about where it hurts but the why behind it as well.

For Eugene, we assessed his shoulder mobility, scapular control and rotator cuff strength to identify the deficits that were showing up when he punches.

From there, treatment and rehab focused on addressing those findings through targeted soft tissue work, dry needling and strengthening.

The goal isnโ€™t just to reduce pain, itโ€™s to build the shoulder back up for the demands of the sport. ๐Ÿ’ช

Itโ€™s World Physio Day! ๐Ÿ‘
We asked our clients one question: What can you do now that you couldnโ€™t before you walked in here?

We donโ€™t take it lightly that people trust us with their bodies and their goals. Thank you for letting us be part of getting you there.๐Ÿซถ

None of it happens without our solid physio team who train in the sports they treat, and excel in their fields.

If youโ€™re not one of them yet, weโ€™d love to help you. Book in via the link in bio ๐Ÿ‘†

โš ๏ธ5 things every runner needs to know๐Ÿƒ

1. Injuries increase around the weeks of increased in volume or intensity.
- Change 1 thing at a time
- Increase time on feet first, before intensity

2. Strengthening outperforms stretching in reducing running injuries
- Focus on unilateral exercises (Running is essentially this!)
E.g. split squats, staggered/single leg deadlifts, Copenhagen adductors, single leg bridges, step up/downs.

3. Activate key muscles pre running, and stretch post run.
- Static stretching can reduce power output so do it after.
- Prime key muscles
E.g. Glutes with crab walks and captain morgans
Calves with pogo jumps/calf raises
Quads with walking lunges
Hamstrings with single leg bridges

4. Donโ€™t skip calf day!
- Soleus absorbs up to 7x body weight (BW) during the run
- Gastrocnemius absorbs up to 2x BW.
Focus on strengthening soleus with bent knee calf raises & gastrocnemius with straight knee calf raise.

5. If you have knee pain, increase step rate by 5-10% as it can reduce pressure to the knee cap joint by 14%.

Pain with running? Let us check it out.

Meet Alcina - Sheโ€™s 9 months post ACL reconstruction with quad autograft & meniscus repair, second ACLR on the same knee.

Our session started with strength testing, checking her deficits are actually closing so we can address her strength programme appropriately.
Deceleration work is next: upright trunk, vertical shin & control before speed.
Change of direction starts on a shallow turn and sharpens as she earns it with good form.

Every stage has a checkpoint before she moves to the next.

Our physios have the same system for every ACL rehab that walks through our door.
