Caregiving doesn’t end with physical care. It also means showing up through moments of stress and difficult conversations
This was the focus of our conversation at CIMB INSUREXPO 2026, where our Head of Singapore Red Cross Academy’s Centre for Psychosocial Resilience & Humanitarian Studies, Ms Durga Naidu, spoke on “Caring Beyond the Physical: Psychological First Aid (PFA) for Seniors & Caregivers.”

The session explored how Psychological First Aid can equip caregivers with practical ways to recognise distress, respond supportively and build resilience within families and communities.
As caregiving needs evolve, emotional support is becoming just as important as physical care. Knowing how to recognise distress and help someone feel heard can make a meaningful difference.
Because caring for someone is not only about knowing what to do physically — it is also about knowing how to respond emotionally.
Thank you to CIMB and INSUREXPO for the opportunity to continue this important conversation.

Honoured to have our Head of the Singapore Red Cross Academy’s Centre for Psychosocial Resilience & Humanitarian Studies, Ms Durga Naidu, invited as a VIP speaker at CIMB INSUREXPO 2026 to speak on the important topic of “Caring Beyond the Physical: Psychological First Aid (PFA) for Seniors & Caregivers.”

The session highlighted the growing importance of psychosocial resilience, mental well-being, and emotional support for caregivers, seniors, and vulnerable communities in today’s fast-evolving landscape. As caregiving demands continue to rise, conversations around Psychological First Aid (PFA), resilience building, and community preparedness are becoming increasingly critical.

Through the work of the Singapore Red Cross Academy, we remain committed to advancing humanitarian education, psychosocial support, caregiving capabilities, and community resilience through impactful training, outreach, and partnerships.

A heartfelt thank you to CIMB and INSUREXPO for the opportunity to share, connect, and advocate for a more compassionate and resilient society.

☀️ We talk about the heat, but our pets can’t. Heat stress can escalate quickly, and knowing what to do in those first moments matters
If your pet overheats:
• Move them to a cool, shaded area immediately
• Apply cool (not ice-cold) water, avoid ice and don’t submerge the head
• Use a fan to help with cooling
• Monitor their temperature if possible, and stop cooling at 39.5°C
• Always bring them to a vet, even if they seem to recover
Early action can make a critical difference. Be prepared for more than just heat-related emergencies, register for our Cats and Dogs First Aid course at https://redcross.sg/get-trained/first-aid-and-resuscitation.html
