Questions to ask the Tarot.

How does one define motherhood? The archetype of the Mother is so powerful, and literature has so many qualities of motherhood. However, in my experience, no amount of intellectualising or rational knowing ever prepares you for motherhood. Having a child makes our hearts expand, and, as Dr Seuss would say, "And what happened then? Well, in Whoville they say that the Mother's big heart grew three sizes that day!" There is the bravery of allowing your heart, as it expands each day, to walk out of your chest, to always care and worry about another often, while putting yourself lower in the list of priorities, and to know that there will be times when you can do nothing to protect your child from the lessons that life presents them!! Of course, donning multiple hats is the call of the day!! A mother is never just a mother, she's the caregiver, the cuddler, the one who kisses the boo-boo's away, the teacher, the drill sargeant, the hostess, the doctor, the dentist -checking to see if you brushed at night, the driver, the seamstress, the bouncer breaking up an argument between siblings, the philosopher, the caterer, the pet walker, the list goes on and on!! Being a mom suggests that your own accomplishments matter, but what truly brings joy is seeing the beaming face looking up at you, saying "tada!! I tied my laces"!
And if you're really lucky, you have a Mother who is your best friend, someone who has your back unconditionally and isn't afraid to plant a kick in your backside if you deserve it, since she knows your potential!! She sees your warts and scabs and all your flaws, but loves you nevertheless and pushes you towards finding yourself so you can live your best life. She fills your bucket of self-esteem by painstakingly giving of herself and helping you uncover who you are, with no expectations of reward or returns. She does it because she wants to, not because she has to. Her biggest wish for you is that the world will enjoy spending time with you, because you're you!!
Even when you are half a decade old, and life gets tough, you know that your Mom's love is the thread that holds you and helps you find the way out of the labyrinth like Ariadne's string. Because all through life, Mom is still one of your safest places.
To my darling Mom Meena Bhogal,
Thank you for being all of the above and more. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose you to be my Mother every time. I carry your love wherever I go. Life wouldn't couldn't be the same without you. Thank you for a lifetime of love and care, a hollering when required, a kick in the back, and for being a champion when I am low!! Thank you for the gift of a sibling- my forever friend, and for being my friend and accepting even if you do not understand at times- all my quirks!!
Thank you for setting the bar so high and for showing us by example how to be a better person, how to be a kinder "mom". Thank you for showing how to build a relationship with our children that, hopefully, should, in time, progress from being a protector and caregiver and Mom to blossoming into a friendship that stands the test of time through the ebbs and flows of life. Thank you for making us aspire to be better Moms.
I know I speak for both Aman and me as I write!! Happy Mother's Day!!
We love you and are so grateful for the gift of you,
love you to the Moon and Beyond!!
Aman Bhogal and me

Astrology does not tell you whether you are a "good" or "bad" sleeper. It shows how your nervous system tends to process the experiences you live through, where you carry emotional residue, and what kind of environment helps you feel safe enough to let go.

For many spiritually conscious people, sleep issues are not simply about being overtired. They can be linked to emotional holding, intuitive overload, relationship stress, grief, unprocessed transitions or a sense that your energy is still switched on long after the day has ended. Your chart can highlight these tendencies with surprising clarity.

Pluto is currently in Aquarius. Over the next 20 years, it signals a transformation, shifting power from elite institutions to the collective. It focuses on revolutionary technology, AI, humanitarian causes, and grassroots organising, redefining societal structures through "power to the people". This era challenges established norms and accelerates rapid, futuristic societal shifts. It is noteworthy that when astronomer Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto on 18 February 1930, the "nuclear scene" was on the precipice of a revolutionary golden age. In 1930, scientists knew the atom had a dense, heavy nucleus (discovered by Ernest Rutherford in 1911), but they did not know what was inside it. By 1932, the neutron had been discovered. Britannica notes that Pluto was pulled from the darkness of space at the exact moment humanity pulled back the curtain on the subatomic underworld. Within 15 years of Pluto's discovery, this quiet academic scene exploded into the Manhattan Project and the Trinity nuclear test. In Aquarius, we can expect deep, seismic transformations across artificial intelligence, space travel, and digital infrastructure that will reshape daily life. A shift away from rigid, top-down corporate or government hierarchies toward decentralised networks and community-led movements is also something to look forward to. We may see the destruction of outworn social dogmas to make way for highly progressive, futuristic, or even radical concepts of humanitarianism and equity. On the negative side, it can manifest as extreme data surveillance, digital algorithmic control, or uncompromising groupthink.
How this energy manifests for an individual depends on where Aquarius falls in their birth chart: (By Rising or Sun Sign)
Aries / Aries Rising: Social networks undergo deep transformation, requiring the elimination of outdated friendships to align with true community allies.
Ta**us / Ta**us Rising: Career, public status, and ambitions evolve intensely, elevating personal influence.
Gemini / Gemini Rising: Personal philosophy, belief systems, and worldview are overhauled through higher learning or travel.
Cancer / Cancer Rising: Deep psychological shadow work is unearthed, fundamentally altering how shared finances, inheritances, and intimacy are handled.
Leo / Leo Rising: One-on-one relationships are directly tested and revolutionised, weeding out superficial dynamics for deep soul connections.
Virgo / Virgo Rising: Inefficient daily habits are removed, fundamentally changing physical health routines and the work environment.
Libra / Libra Rising: The way creativity is expressed, romance is experienced, and raw joy or self-expression is pursued is completely reinvented.
Scorpio / Scorpio Rising: Home life, family dynamics, and emotional foundations undergo massive structural changes.
Sagittarius / Sagittarius Rising: How communication, thoughts, and ideas are expressed is reconditioned, often amplifying voice or local influence.
Capricorn / Capricorn Rising: The financial landscape is rebuilt, altering the relationship with material wealth and internal self-worth.
Aquarius / Aquarius Rising: Identity, appearance, and personal power are totally transformed as Pluto crosses the first housePisces / Pisces Rising: The subconscious mind is activated, leading to profound spiritual healing, isolation, and the release of hidden karma.

In the 90s, when I was operating the Singapore-Frankfurt route with Singapore Airlines, the station manager told us there was a crew member at the hotel with chickenpox, and we could look him up. I just got some necessities and left them outside his room door. I thought no more of it! About 3 weeks later, I got pulled out on standby to fly to Bombay (the contemporary name). The entire flight felt exhausting. I was sick through the service, offering meals and rushing to the galley to throw up. At the same time, the passengers decided what they wanted. When we landed, all I wanted to do was go 'crash out' at the hotel. And that was fine!! I slept through the stay, and the next evening, I began to feel sick again, at which point I saw the company doctor. Turns out, I had chickenpox. I spent 21 days at the Taj Palace, feeling like popcorn face, requesting the staff to leave a change of bedding and towels at the door, asking the hotel to send people who had already suffered through the pox before. When I was cleared to fly home, I looked like someone had spattered mud all over me. I had marks on my face, in my ears, and I felt scabs on my scalp.

Vain and miserable, I resorted to the superstition- In India, chickenpox is called Mata (mother) due to a traditional belief that the disease is a manifestation of the Hindu goddess Sh*tala Mata. It is believed she causes the rashes (often called Mata-ji) but also brings healing, with the illness seen as her divine presence entering the body to cure it from within. This cultural perspective piqued my curiosity and deepened my respect for the diverse beliefs of my country. Out of desperation, I went to a temple to see the priest, who asked me to meet him promptly the next day with items on his inventory list: 5 dried dates, 50 grams of rock sugar, a coconut, neem leaves, vermillion, and turmeric powder. The next day, he prayed and let me go. The offering was to be donated at the temple, and I was told I had paid my dues to the Mata. In ten days, my face was clear. Was it tradition, or desperation? For me, aged 21, it was definitely desperation. I often wondered if it was a placebo, after all, the body can rejuvenate on its own!

However, as the Hierophant card today will inform you, rituals hold their own power. The Hierophant is all about connection to tradition. However, it is we who need to decide which traditions we subscribe to and what we believe. Years later, aged 33, I took my firstborn to the Bangla Sahib Sikh Temple, which is the faith I was born into, to give her some holy water as she would often fall sick. In my mind, even sceptics turn to tradition when we need help beyond ourselves.

In the past, the Hierophant was all about sacred traditions and belief and the church, whatever the church is in your faith. The character of the Hierophant has changed a lot, and in today's day, it is more about what beliefs you will subscribe to. So today, my dearest reader, what traditions will you choose to embrace, and what is your personal belief system?

Have a blessed day!!

The strings of Karma bind us all. While many events in life seem absolutely random, with no indication of why something would happen, there is a precise method to the madness. Years ago, I had a client who sought an Akashic Records Reading. Of course, the reading was contactless. When we touched base, he mentioned that he found the reading extremely triggering, as he had an accident when he was just three, where someone dropped boiling water just off the stove on him, which, as one can understand, landed him in the hospital with severe 3rd degree burns. He spent a major part of his early years in the hospital. The reading I had sent him mentioned him being at the site of a military siege. In that life, he was incarnated as a woman. Let me narrate the story of his past life. Life was hard. This was during the years of the Ottoman expansion. Her life had been hard, and she had resigned herself to suffering, and that paralleled the current lifetime. The armies of the Ottoman Empire laid siege to her city, and she joined some of the women on the wall to defend it. They were responsible for boiling oil to throw at soldiers scaling the city's walls. As the oil was pushed over, she leaned over and saw the carnage it left behind, and it crossed her mind that there would be consequences for that. In this life, she/he finally finished the Karma attached to the war. His birth chart tells a story, too. He has an afflicted Moon in his birth chart and Mars in the 12th house, which indicates hospitalisation because of injuries, accidents, and often surgical interventions. Another indication in his birth chart was that the ruler of the 12th was in the 6th, a position that often appears in the charts of medical professionals, and he is a psychologist. So the Wheel of Fortune is about Karma and reminds us that the experiences our higher selves choose in our lives sometimes bring closure to our Karma. The only choice we can make then is how we respond to them, and Karma is not negative; it is the consequences that can also manifest as being born with a silver spoon in the mouth!! So today's to the Spinning Wheel and the Fates. Have a blessed day!!

At the core of the Enneagram is the idea that each individual has a dominant personality type, shaped by early-life experiences, core desires, and defence mechanisms. These personality types are represented by nine interconnected points on a geometric figure, forming a dynamic and interactive system. Each type is assigned a number from one to nine, reflecting its position on the Enneagram diagram. The Magician, The Hierophant and Justice share the qualities of the Type 1 Individuals.
