The Knight of Cups serves as a powerful archetype for emotional processing. He can track internal sensations (interoception) and move from a state of survival to safety. Unlike the Knight of Swords, who charges impulsively, or the Knight of Wands, who burns with reactive adrenaline, the Knight of Cups moves slowly and holds a single cup perfectly level, representing a calm somatic profile. Because of this calming pause, he has the posture that allows others to be at ease. Seen as the archetype of the dreamer, he represents the internal "safe attachment figure" who can look at difficult emotions with compassion rather than judgment. The Knight's horse is almost always shown pacing, walking, or standing gracefully by a body of water. It is moving forward, but it is entirely controlled, rhythmic, and calm. This is the definition of mobilisation without fear. The Knight is on an emotional quest, but it is fueled by curiosity and connection rather than cortisol and adrenaline. The heart rate is stable, and breathing is deep. The walking horse is symbolic of the physiological ventral vagal nerve, which acts as a vagal brake. Like a foot tapping the brake pedal of a car, it continuously slows down the heart's natural pacemaker to keep the body in a state of calm, relaxed readiness. His armour is decorated with fish symbolic of him accepting his emotional currents. He flows with the current rather than against it. When you invoke the Knight of Cups in a somatic practice, you are practising neuroception of safety. That means signalling to the brain and body that it is safe to drop the armour and open the heart. Thus, you are in the ventral state; the Knight embodies flexible thinking, a fluid body, and the ability to tolerate nuance.
In contrast, a sympathetic state causes rigid, black-and-white thinking and physical tension. A dorsal state goes further, causing physical numbness. The Knight of Cups embodies the fluid, resilient capacity to ride the waves of emotion without drowning. He embodies the ability to approach the inner world with poetic curiosity and an open, idealistic heart.
Have a blessed day!!

The tarot can be a wonderful tool to showcase cognitive behavioural therapy visually. To that end, the 9 of Pentacles is an excellent reminder not to seek approval or validation from others. We are social animals, and connection is wired in our genes!! After all, we have as a species survived and thrived since "No Man is an Island". Infact having loved ones on the same page is something that makes us feel included and supported. Validation only becomes a problem if we are sacrificing our happiness and joy for others.
The 9 of Pentacles shows a young lady in her creative space standing tall and looking out contentedly. She has created that space for herself with sheer discipline, hard work and determination. But that is not the strength of the 9 of Pentacles. It is a strong card, since it shows success in the bare bones form. True success isn't a measure of what we own or our net worth. Rather, it is the confidence of knowing that one is living an authentic life and can recreate their abundance even if the materials were taken away from them. Their worth isn't what they own or what people think of them.
When we depend on validation from others, we tend to lose autonomy and hand over control of our happiness to other people's opinions. Our mood rises and falls based on temporary praise or criticism. Perhaps the worst is the anxiety and burnout accrued by exhausting ourselves trying to meet impossible or changing standards. This anxiety leads us to hide true thoughts, style, and boundaries just to fit in, thereby diluting our authenticity. Over time, validation from others creates chronic emptiness, since external praise can never permanently fill a lack of internal self-acceptance.
The 9 of Pentacles reminds us to savour personal abundance as the woman here enjoys her creations and art studio. The falcon she painted calls to mastering emotional self-regulation and symbolises disciplined thoughts and controlled impulses. Instead of reacting wildly to external opinions, she governs her own mind and emotions.
The 9 of Pentacles reminds you to celebrate being content in your own company. True validation comes from knowing you can provide for your own emotional, financial, and spiritual needs. Her informal attire and beautiful surroundings show a deep respect for oneself. You treat yourself with high value and an alignment with your inner compass, so you do not look for scraps of approval from others and can be authentically you!!
So today's is about self-validation and the joy it brings!!

Starseeds is a term used in New Age or metaphysical beliefs to describe people who do not feel they belong here and have a yearning to be born in, or to return to, another place or time. There is also a belief that they have had past lives on other planets. They could have been a part of extraterrestrial civilisations.
I believe that we all, to some degree, have this fascination with the night sky, and the beautiful constellations that shine by the moonlight. However, Starseeds have a yearning, a poignant remembrance and a desire to return to a home that is a distant memory. There is a feeling of not fitting in
and not quite feeling at home. Why then would anyone choose to incarnate
on planet Earth? It is said that these special souls possess innate
spiritual or psychic abilities and have incarnated by choice, with a mission to assist in the planet's spiritual evolution.

How does one define motherhood? The archetype of the Mother is so powerful, and literature has so many qualities of motherhood. However, in my experience, no amount of intellectualising or rational knowing ever prepares you for motherhood. Having a child makes our hearts expand, and, as Dr Seuss would say, "And what happened then? Well, in Whoville they say that the Mother's big heart grew three sizes that day!" There is the bravery of allowing your heart, as it expands each day, to walk out of your chest, to always care and worry about another often, while putting yourself lower in the list of priorities, and to know that there will be times when you can do nothing to protect your child from the lessons that life presents them!! Of course, donning multiple hats is the call of the day!! A mother is never just a mother, she's the caregiver, the cuddler, the one who kisses the boo-boo's away, the teacher, the drill sargeant, the hostess, the doctor, the dentist -checking to see if you brushed at night, the driver, the seamstress, the bouncer breaking up an argument between siblings, the philosopher, the caterer, the pet walker, the list goes on and on!! Being a mom suggests that your own accomplishments matter, but what truly brings joy is seeing the beaming face looking up at you, saying "tada!! I tied my laces"!
And if you're really lucky, you have a Mother who is your best friend, someone who has your back unconditionally and isn't afraid to plant a kick in your backside if you deserve it, since she knows your potential!! She sees your warts and scabs and all your flaws, but loves you nevertheless and pushes you towards finding yourself so you can live your best life. She fills your bucket of self-esteem by painstakingly giving of herself and helping you uncover who you are, with no expectations of reward or returns. She does it because she wants to, not because she has to. Her biggest wish for you is that the world will enjoy spending time with you, because you're you!!
Even when you are half a decade old, and life gets tough, you know that your Mom's love is the thread that holds you and helps you find the way out of the labyrinth like Ariadne's string. Because all through life, Mom is still one of your safest places.
To my darling Mom Meena Bhogal,
Thank you for being all of the above and more. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose you to be my Mother every time. I carry your love wherever I go. Life wouldn't couldn't be the same without you. Thank you for a lifetime of love and care, a hollering when required, a kick in the back, and for being a champion when I am low!! Thank you for the gift of a sibling- my forever friend, and for being my friend and accepting even if you do not understand at times- all my quirks!!
Thank you for setting the bar so high and for showing us by example how to be a better person, how to be a kinder "mom". Thank you for showing how to build a relationship with our children that, hopefully, should, in time, progress from being a protector and caregiver and Mom to blossoming into a friendship that stands the test of time through the ebbs and flows of life. Thank you for making us aspire to be better Moms.
I know I speak for both Aman and me as I write!! Happy Mother's Day!!
We love you and are so grateful for the gift of you,
love you to the Moon and Beyond!!
Aman Bhogal and me
