A quiet but powerful moment from a recent workshop.
Art Storey was invited to facilitate a 60-minute collaborative art therapy session at an international women’s leadership conference. In a space often filled with strategy, performance, and decision-making, this session offered something different — a pause.
Participants were invited to step into a shared creative process. Using simple materials and intuitive mark-making, the group co-created a large-scale artwork. There was no right or wrong way to contribute — only an opportunity to respond, layer, and witness.
What emerged was more than a painting.
It was:
• a practice of letting go of control
• a moment of connection without needing words
• a reminder that creativity can coexist with leadership
• a shared space where individual expression becomes collective meaning
Even within a short session, shifts were visible — from hesitation to play, from observation to participation, from thinking to sensing.
Art therapy in group settings is not about the final product. It is about process, presence, and how we relate — to ourselves and to others — within that process.
Grateful to have held this space.
