Environmental stress affects our skin deeply. Extensive clinical research confirms that urban living dramatically increases sensitive and reactive skin. Urban populations face a triple threat to their skin: heightened inflammation, oxidative stress, and environmental damage.

The Signature Purple Code®️ protocol is a multi-modal intervention birthed to tackle the root cause of the total skin exposome—at its core, inflammaging. In the face of unprecedented technological advancements in aesthetic dermatology, urban skin is more sensitive and reactive than ever, why?

Conventional cosmetic treatments like botox, threads and fillers do not address the process of microinflammation that’s at work within aging skin cells. The climate plays a role too in Southeast Asia, apart from UV-induced oxidative stress, heat and excessive humidity causes thermal aging.

Bridging Asian heritage pharmacopeia with the transforming efficacy of modern biotech, our proprietary pharmaceutical technologies extract, distill and concentrate ancient roots found across Korea, China and Japan.

Beyond mass market antioxidant formulations, a holistic dermocosmetic system designed to intercept the total aging cascade.

Introducing Signature Purple Code®️, our patent-pending system that’s engineered for cellular longevity.
Rigorously tested on sensitive Asian skin types, dermatologist designed for global skin.

My transition from practising dermatologist to chief scientific officer at our research institute is marked by a singular quest: How do we stop treating the skin as a static barrier and instead as a living sensory organ that’s also profoundly interconnected with the rest of the body?

Over a decade of clinical practice revealed the one thread connecting every single dermatological condition—emotion and stress affect our skin deeply. Research continues to bear out the inner workings of this intricate system we now call the brain-skin-axis, which is also at the core of my latest innovation in the beauty tech space.

More than 5 years in the making, a multidisciplinary synthesis that spans our base right here in Singapore, our pharmaceutical engineering facility in Seoul and our new home in Guangdong, at the heart of C-beauty biotech.

We’re fresh off our patent filing and I can’t wait to share more about Signature Purple Code®️ with you. Thank you for following me on this journey, as we unravel the best of Asian beauty.

A dermatologist’s perspective on timelessness.

Aging gracefully is a conscious art, the wisdom to support your biology while honoring the life it reflects.
The skin is a mirror to a deeper landscape. We’re beginning to understand it in the language of the brain-skin axis.

To me, aging is a dialogue between the body and spirit. Not agelessness, but timelessness. Heal the spirit, and the body will follow.

The 2-in-1 Secret to Rebuilding Your Skin Barrier ✨

SPF to me is as much about sun protection as it is about deep skin repair.

As a dermatologist, I prioritize multifunctional formulas. Why? Because UV exposure is the
primary driver of collagen degradation—the root cause of fine lines and uneven texture. Sun
protection is crucial for your skin health, but so is a formula that enhances cellular repair and
rebuild.

The Derm-Approved Solution: Sunscreen Serums

Look for dual-action formulas that offer:
- Broad-Spectrum SPF 50+: Essential for preventing immediate damage.
- Collagen Peptides: Bioactives that actively rebuild collagen damaged by UV rays.
- Targeted Repair: Addressing rough texture, dullness, and uneven skin tone in one step.

My top tip? Choose a lightweight serum texture for that invisible, glowy finish. Protect, repair, and delete skin damage simultaneously.

Lessons from Asian Skin for the Global Phenotype.
What if I told you that your skin holds the key to your unique biological blueprint? Yes the same reactivity and sensitivity you experience could prove key to solving your own skin crisis.

As a former practising dermatologist and now researcher specializing in Asian skin phenotypes (Fitzpatrick III-V), I’ve observed that the unique skin architecture of East Asian skin in particular offers a universal roadmap for global skin health. From the very basis of it being more sensitive than Caucasian and other skin of color phenotypes.

Here is the clinical breakdown of what I call the Asian Skin Blueprint:

1️⃣ The Barrier Priority: Asian skin often exhibits higher Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL). True Glass Skin is actually the clinical result of a fortified Stratum Corneum and optimized ceramide profiles. 🛡️
2️⃣ Melanocyte Reactivity: Beyond the Fitzpatrick scale, we must address inflammaging. Because Types III-V are genetically predisposed to pigment reactivity, our focus is on mitigating inflammation at the barrier level to prevent PIH before it starts.
3️⃣ The Endocrine-Skin Axis: My research work in particular focuses on synthesizing ethnobotanical science with modern dermatology. In particular the various holistic interactions we are beginning to observe on a cellular level, with the rest of the body’s endocrine markers.
By understanding the specific needs of Asian skin, we unlock a blueprint for barrier repair and longevity for global phototypes. 🌏✨

WHY YOUR SKINCARE WORKS ON TUESDAY BUT FAILS ON FRIDAY 🧪🌿
FACT: Your skin behaves differently according to the time of the month.
Increasing research supports the endocrine-skin axis, skin barrier and sebum gland idea does actually fluctuates throughout the menstrual cycle in response to estrogen and progesterone. Part of our work at the Asian Skin Research Institute focuses on how ethnobotanicals function as nature’s built-in skin cycling elixirs. Swipe to discover some of our findings.

Demystifying Retinol stinging in Asian skin
Why your cheeks and the area around your mouth feel more sensitive than the rest of your face.
Swipe for a Derm’s Quick Facts:👆

1. The stratum corneum is thinner
2. There are less sebaceous glands compared to the forehead/nose/chin
3. There is highest TEWL (transepidermal water loss)

Is your skin behaving like two different ecosystems? One area is oily and prone to breakouts, while another is parched and sensitive? What we’ve previously called combination skin is in fact a phenomenon better understood in the context of facial zones.

If you suffer from a facial skin condition, be it acne, seborrheic dermatitis, or facial eczema, you may have noticed that certain parts of your face behaves differently. The reason has to do with a different composition of bacteria, what we call the microbiome, as well as significant differences affecting local skin climate factors such as skin thickness, whether it’s in a photoexposed area, temperature, or in an area that is in contact with saliva, friction etc.

That’s also the reason for our research focus on ethnobotanicals to regulate the skin microclimate. Adaptogens intelligently help skin adapt to local climate factors through harmonizing sebum regulation oxidative shielding, and regulating skin barrier function.

🛑 The “Thinning Skin” Myth: DEBUNKED by Science

COMMENT “RETINOID” for my personalised guide on introducing retinoids for sensitive skin types.

Swipe through to see why a Dermatologist says the “thinning” effect is actually a biological illusion, and what you should really be looking out for ➡️

🔍 The Science of the Illusion
Retinoids do accelerate cell turnover in the Stratum Corneum (the outermost layer of dead cells). This shedding makes the skin look glassier and smoother—leading many to think the skin is thinning.

The Reality? Retinoids actually THICKEN the living tissue of your skin. Decades of pathology prove they stimulate Type I and III collagen and glycosaminoglycans, rebuilding your skin’s structural foundation from the inside out. 🏗️

BUT, bear in mind that if you are Asian, you may be more vulnerable. A study has shown the unique genetic factors that predispose East Asians to retinoid dermatitis, requiring more attention to dosing and use of protective adjuvant actives to reduce irritation. The location where you apply retinoid is also critical—- the area around the mouth or the O zone is much more sensitive.

🌏 The Asian Skin Variable
Not all skin is created equal. Clinical data shows the Asian skin phenotype often has:
* A naturally thinner stratum corneum.
* A higher baseline for Trans-Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL).
* A higher risk for PIH (Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation).
