Su***de remains one of the leading causes of death in Singapore, and in 2024, adults in their 30s emerged as a group of growing concern.
Our Medical Director, Dr Jared Ng, reminds us "You can't always see what someone is carrying."
When it comes to prevention, meaningful support often begins with simple acts of connection.
"Someone noticing a friend has gone quiet, and asking again, even when the answer was 'I'm fine'. That is where prevention actually happens, in the ordinary moments between people who care enough to ask twice."
You do not need to have the perfect words. Sometimes, checking in, listening without judgment, and simply being present can make a difference.
This World Su***de Prevention Day, let's continue building a community where conversations about mental health are met with compassion, understanding, and support. π
If you or someone you know is experiencing emotional distress, support is available.
