Sarcoma care is not always straightforward.

For one patient, treatment involved removing part of his leg, rebuilding it with an artificial implant, and supporting his return to movement.

Because sarcoma can affect different tissues and parts of the body, care often needs to consider more than the tumour itself. It may also involve preserving function, supporting recovery, and helping patients move forward with life after treatment.

But adolescents and young adults can be diagnosed too, and their experience may come with a different set of concerns, from school and work to fertility, relationships and long-term care.

Most lumps are not sarcomas.

Still, it is important to know when a lump may need to be checked, especially if it is growing, feels firm or hard, becomes painful, or starts limiting movement.
