That is one of the key messages from the World Health Organizationโ€™s updated Risk Reduction of Cognitive Decline and Dementia 2026 guidelines. The report reinforces that protecting brain health is a lifelong journey, addressing factors such as physical activity, diabetes, hypertension, social engagement, healthy diet and hearing loss.

Importantly, the WHO now recommends that hearing aids may be offered to adults with hearing loss to reduce the risk of cognitive decline and/or dementia.
