Cultivating Kindness and Gratitude in Children by Dr Paul Reddish.

Usually working behind the scenes, Director and Psychologist, Dr Paul Reddish, addressed the parents at Nexus International School, Singapore. He shared the psychology behind kindness and how parents can gently encoueage kindness and gratitude through practice and modelling.

He also reminded us that children who do not act kindly, may have been distracted, overwhelmed, or developmentally not ready. So do not judge them to harshly but patiently build their skills and help them grow.

With a focus on managing big emotions and big decisions, these sessions aim to help teen girls navigate the pressures of teenhood and to emerge with confidence.

RECESS Psychology is proud to be on the panel for Income Insurance’s Child Secure Project.

The initiative offers 10 counselling sessions for children aged 7–18 whose parents are eligible policyholders facing a critical illness such as cancer, heart attack, and stroke (subject to policy and campaign terms).

A parent’s illness can bring difficult emotions and changes for the whole family. At RECESS, we offer children a supportive space to express their feelings, make sense of these changes and develop coping skills.

Our September newsletter is out! Thank you to one special elf who did such a good job putting it together.

Special mention to Dr. Dawn-joy Leong for her session for Autistic women. We had such a lovely Thank You message from one of the ladies who attended! We also share about our session with Dr Bee Lim, an old friend from Victoria University and thank her for the fireside chat with the team at Recess Psychology and Coaching Centre about her work and her book Welcome Home. We also have some key points from the talk by our Director, Dr Paul Reddish on Cultivating Kindness and Gratitude in Children, as well share about the launch of our Certificate in Neurodiverse Coaching in Jakarta, Indonesia!

Meet the team:

Jaral is our counsellor who also has training in early childhood. Her calm and respectful approach together with her engaging sessions help those she works with feel safe and supported.

Jaral has experience supporting both neurotypical and the neurodivergent children and teens and she is always striving to be a better counsellor.

For children aged 9 to 12

Join psychologist, Yasmeen, and counsellor Jaral as they facilitate this session for children aged 9 to 12. This session is neither a lecture nor a therapy session. It is a safe space for neurodivergent children to meet each other and ask questions. This provides a space for them to feel included, to be seen, and to be heard.
