Grateful for the meaningful learning journey we shared during the Online EFIT Consultation from 18–21 May 2026. ❤️

We are deeply encouraged by the feedback from participants — many shared that the consultations helped deepen their confidence, provided insightful reminders, and created focused yet non-overwhelming learning through real case discussions across multicultural backgrounds.

A heartfelt thank you to all the presenters for your courage and generosity in sharing your clinical work. Your openness made the learning rich, experiential, and deeply meaningful for everyone.

Special appreciation to Dr. Ting Liu for the insightful consultation throughout the four half-day sessions.

We are especially touched that many participants expressed a desire for more consultation opportunities. Thank you for your trust, engagement, and passion for learning EFT together.

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) is one of the most extensively researched and empirically supported approaches to couple therapy today. Grounded in attachment science, EFCT integrates systemic, experiential, and person-centered approaches to help couples understand and transform the emotional and relational patterns that maintain distress. Decades of outcome research, including randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses, demonstrate that EFCT leads to significant and lasting improvements in relationship satisfaction, emotional bonding, and attachment security. Research consistently shows that couples not only move out of distress, but are also able to sustain positive change over time, making EFCT a leading evidence-based model in couple therapy.

The EFCT Externship is a 4-day foundational training designed for mental health professionals who wish to work more effectively with couples by addressing the emotional and attachment processes beneath conflict and disconnection. Participants will learn a clear and structured framework to assess couple distress, identify negative interaction cycles, and facilitate meaningful emotional change.

Whether you are a seasoned couple therapist or have not yet started seeing couples, this course will support you in learning and applying Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). If you are new to Emotionally Focused Therapy and unsure where to begin, the EFCT Externship is the ideal starting point. It is the first required step toward ICEEFT certification and provides a strong foundation for further EFT training and clinical practice.

What to do when you're in love but your partner's parents aren't in love with you.

I’m grateful to contribute to a Channel NewsAsia TODAY article on couples struggling when parents disapprove of their relationship.

In my therapy room, I see this often — partners caught between loyalty to family and longing for connection with each other. These conflicts are rarely about “right or wrong,” but about deep attachment fears, unmet needs, and old bonds pulling in different directions.

Healing begins when we slow down and understand what’s really happening underneath the fights. In my work with couples, I often witness how moments of genuine acknowledgment — after the track of negative cycle, unpacking and deepening — such as “I was not there to protect you when you needed me the most,” can be profoundly healing and reconnecting.

While it may sound simple, this kind of emotional repair becomes possible only when an attachment lens guides therapy. Through attunement to each partner’s emotional world, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) helps couples access deeper experiences of safety, responsibility, and reconnection. This is the power of EFCT — moving couples beyond blame and conflict, and back toward secure emotional connection.

Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) guides couples through three key stages of change:

1️⃣ Calming the Storm – De-escalating conflict and identifying negative patterns.
2️⃣ Rebuilding the Bond – Fostering emotional engagement and trust.
3️⃣ Growing Stronger Together – Consolidating new, secure ways of connecting.

✨ Singapore EFT Community Peer Learning Group ✨

We had a wonderful final Peer Learning Group of the year with Michelle Png, Senior Counsellor at Care Corner Counselling Centre, who shared on “Sex Therapy Using EFT – Sexual Assessment & Discrepancies in Desire.”

It was an engaging and thought-provoking discussion that deepened our understanding of how EFT can be applied to explore sexual dynamics and emotional connection in couples.

A big thank you to Michelle and all participants for your openness and insights. 💛

We look forward to continuing our shared learning journey next year!

🌟 Upcoming Training: EFIT Essentials (In-Person, Singapore | October 2025)

📌 Early Bird price ends 31 August 2025 – don’t miss the chance to secure your spot at a special rate.

💡 What is EFIT?

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is an attachment science-based approach to individual therapy. Just like its sister models — EFCT for couples and EFFT for families — EFIT helps clients reshape and make sense of their inner world, while also transforming how they engage with others and with their own younger selves.

In EFIT, emotion takes center stage. Why? Because emotion is the key to unlocking change — it organizes our inner experience, drives motivation, and shapes the patterns of disconnection in relationships with self and others.

🌱 Why EFIT is so effective for individuals

Deep healing: EFIT guides clients to access, explore, and reprocess their most vulnerable emotions.

Integration: Clients gain a clearer sense of self, making sense of past wounds while building resilience for the present.

Transforming patterns: By working through emotional blocks, clients discover new ways of relating to themselves and others.

Outcome: Clients experience greater self-compassion, emotional balance, and stronger connections in their relationships.

✨ If you’re a therapist looking to deepen your practice, this training will equip you with powerful tools to support individual clients through meaningful, lasting change.
