Heat pack or ice pack for back pain? 🔥❄️
Both can help relieve discomfort, but knowing when to use each can make a difference!
❄️ When to use an ICE PACK:
- For recent strains, sprains or sudden back pain flare-ups
- When the affected area is swollen or inflamed
- During the first 24–48 hours after a fresh injury
Ice can help reduce swelling and temporarily numb the affected area to ease discomfort.
🔥 When to use a HEAT PACK:
- For ongoing back pain or stiffness
- When your muscles feel tight or tense
- Before stretching or light physical activity
Heat helps relax tight muscles, improve blood circulation and ease stiffness.
💡 A few things to remember:
- Apply heat or ice for 15–20 minutes at a time.
- Always place a towel between the pack and your skin.
- Allow your skin to return to its normal temperature before reapplying.
While heat and ice may provide temporary relief, persistent or recurring back pain could indicate an underlying issue that requires further assessment.
