For many palliative patients, a simple day out is not always simple. Behind every outing are many thoughtful preparations — wheelchairs, oxygen support, transport arrangements, and the reassurance that someone will be there every step of the way.
That’s why our recent outing to the Oceanarium and Sensoryscape at Sentosa with staff from Cloudera meant so much to our patients. With their support, what could have felt impossible became a joyful day filled with fresh air, conversations, laughter, and precious moments.
“I was a bit hesitant at first as I was unable to use my electric wheelchair for this outing. However, the outing was very well-planned and I’m very grateful for the volunteers who take time off their busy day to push me around Sentosa. I’m very happy to have the chance to go out and enjoy the day with my fellow friends!” shared our Day Care patient, Mr Razali.
The experience was equally meaningful for the Cloudera team who journeyed alongside them.
“I had a great time with my buddy Mr Razali at the Oceanarium outing,” shared Remus Lim, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific & Japan at Cloudera. “I especially enjoyed his vivid life story of working on oil rigs around the world, and he surely knows his fish and how they should be cooked! Spending time with patients is always memorable.”
Beyond supporting patients, volunteering also became a meaningful experience for the Cloudera team itself - colleagues bonding across departments, newer staff getting to know one another, and people reconnecting with purpose outside of day-to-day work.
Thank you, Cloudera, for making this joyful and meaningful day possible for our patients. ✨
