Week 5 of our Breast Augmentation Education Series: Implant material – the cohesive gel spectrum
Not all silicone implants feel or behave the same.
Modern silicone implants sit on a spectrum — from softer, more mobile gels to firmer, more form-stable gels, sometimes known as highly cohesive or “gummy bear” implants.
Cohesivity affects how the implant feels, how well it holds its shape, and how it may behave over time.
But there is no “best” gel for everyone.
A softer gel may suit someone who wants a more natural movement and feel.
A firmer gel may suit someone who needs more shape retention or projection.
The right choice depends on your tissue, frame, goals, and what your surgeon feels is safest and most suitable for you.
This post focuses on what is inside the implant. Shape, profile, surface, and placement are separate decisions we’ll cover in upcoming posts.
When you’re ready, a consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon is the best way to explore your options and make an informed decision.
We’re here to answer your questions, understand your goals, and help you determine whether breast augmentation is the right choice for you.
