The Centre for Ageing Research and Education (CARE) is an academic research centre based in Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. Our investigators and staff conduct multidisciplinary research in ageing from a comprehensive gerontological perspective, combining biological, social, medical, and environmental perspectives. CARE also spearheads educational programmes to build competencies on ageing amongst researchers, policy and programme professionals.

What are some strategies to strengthen system performance, enhance patient experience, and deliver care closer to home?

In this webinar, Dr Deblina Dasgupta will highlight how hospitals can act as “leaders of place,” working with strong primary care and responsive community teams to reduce unnecessary emergency department attendances and admissions.

The new Age Well Neighbourhoods initiative supports ageing-in-place by providing more services to seniors in their existing homes, including home fixes, housekeeping, laundry, meal deliveries and AACs built nearby. Toa Payoh, where nearly a quarter of residents are aged 65 and above, will be the first town to benefit from this initiative.

In this commentary, Jeremy Lim-Soh, Senior Research Fellow and Rahul Malhotra, Executive Director of CARE share their insights on the new initiative and outline four ideas for an age-friendly Singapore.
