LactoGG LactoGG- the premier probiotic.

It is a special, unique good bacterium, which has been proven to promote health in the human being. The scientific name for LactoGG's probiotic strain is Lactobacillus Rhamnosus strain GG (ATCC53103) or " Lactobacillus GG" for short. LactoGG is the original, specific probiotic strain isolated by two Boston scientists , Prof. Gorbach and Dr. Barry Goldin, in 1985, from the intestinal tract of a healthy human subject. Its ''GG'' identity is named after its two discovers. LactoGG is a vegetable capsule containing 20 billion live ''GG'' bacteria and inulin, a vegetable fibre which acts as the food for the live bacteria. It does not contain yeast, sodium, preservatives, artificial food coloring, artificial flavoring, sweeteners or sugar. For further information, please contact: -

Brain Health is Gut Health
Mental health and physical health go hand in hand. The key to a journey of good health lies with our good gut germs. Good gut bugs form the all-important microbial ecosystem called the “microbiome”.

Our microbiome sets the foundation for physical and mental strength. By maintaining an unbroken gut barrier it keeps bad microbes out and harmful external signals and toxins from infiltrating our body. By constantly communicating with the gut immune cells, it keeps our immunity alert, tuned in and in check. By sending positive-signals to the brain it promotes brain growth and mental function.

Wish to be a mental health champion? Build up your good gut bugs first.

Don’t let the Haze knock out your gut warriors!

Do you think haze only affects your upper respiratory tract, lungs and eyes? Wrong.

Studies have shown that particulate air pollutants such as those generated by burning biofuels and fires can create marked changes in our gut microbiome, from infancy to adulthood! These changes in our internal microbes directly affect the severity of respiratory symptoms and lung health.

Researchers from Harvard Medical School tracked the intestinal microbial composition of women in rural Uganda who were exposed to long hours of indoor air pollution due to the use of kerosene lamps. Following the introduction of affordable solar lighting, the range and number of viruses found in the women’s microbiome decreased significantly. After air-borne pollution was slashed, symptoms of shortness of breath also plunged nearly 50%.

Most importantly, the study identified improved breathing was proportionately linked to improvement in the gut microbiome!

In this season of haze, protect your microbiome, protect your lungs! GG to the rescue!

A tribute to the discover of the “GG” probiotic

This is a tribute to a remarkable doctor and researcher who committed his life to advancing knowledge of the cause and cure of many significant infectious diseases. Emeritus Professor of Medicine of Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston Massachusetts, USA, Dr. Sherwood Gorbach passed away on 7th Dec 2024 at the age of 90, having distinguished himself by achieving many medical milestones.
In the 1960s and 1970s. Dr. Gorbach was the discover of enterotoxigenic E. Coli as one of the major causes of deadly diarrhoea diseases in adults and children and of diarrhoea acquired during travels (traveller’s diarrhoea).
In 1978 he and his team of researchers in Tufts University reported that the bacterium, Clostridium difficile, was the cause of a form of extreme antibiotic-associated diarrhoea due to the destruction of good bacteria in the intestinal tract after consuming powerful antibiotics. More than 30 years later in 2011 he fast tracked a new treatment, fidaxomicin, for this devastating infection.
His continuous search for ways to enhance gut health led him and his colleague, Dr. Barry Goldin to identify, in 1985, a unique bacterial strain in the intestinal tract of a healthy human which they named “Lactobacillus GG”*. The discovers lent the first letter in their names to this newly discovered bacterium which had all the characteristics of an effective probiotic. Since the pioneering work of Dr. Gorbach, over 1300 scientific research papers and clinical trials have been conducted on this world-famous “GG” probiotic.
Although Dr. Gorbach received two prestigious lifetime awards for his contribution to microbiology and infectious diseases and numerous accolades, Dr. Gorbach always considered his primary duty was to his patients.
“My research involved animals, labs and microscopes, but the focus was inherently human,” said Dr. Gorbach in an interview with his medical school.**

LACTOGG/LACTOGG+ which contain his original “GG” strain and the millions of people who have benefitted from Dr. Gorbach’s discoveries pay tribute and give thanks to this dedicated teacher, scientist and doctor.

Fatty liver disease? The proof is in the poo!

Researchers from the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), Nanyang Technical University in Singapore, have found a strong link between gut bacteria and liver health.  One of the researchers, Damien Chua, revealed that fatty liver disease was actually a gut condition with its onset in the gut![1,2]

In the study, stools of Singaporean, Thai, Indian and Chinese persons from Shenzhen were analysed.  The scientists identified a protein called ANGPTL4 in human p**p.  This protein was produced in the intestines, liver and fat cells and appeared to be crucial in the development of fatty liver.

ANGPTL4 promotes fat burning and puts a brake on fat storage. At the same time it has impact on the severity of inflammation in the gut which damages the natural intestinal barrier. [2,3] The production of ANGPTL4 is influenced by our diet (especially dietary fibre intake) and is regulated by intestinal bacteria composition (microbiome).

Thus our gut microbiome influences how much ANGPTL4 is produced and how leaky our gut is.  The more leaky it is, the more easily bad bacteria can get through the gut barrier and into the liver.  Once in the liver, these harmful bacteria create inflammation in the liver and trigger the development of fatty liver and long term liver damage.

LACTOGG®’s “GG” probiotic has many documented studies showing it can influence the composition of the gut microbiome and keep the intestinal barrier strong. [4,5] Studies have also shown how “GG” protects the liver from developing inflammation and fatty accumulation.[6,7]

Protect our gut to protect our liver!  The evidence is in our poo.
