Our dear alumna, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, passed away yesterday at 100.

Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali studied medicine at King Edward VII College of Medicine in Singapore and graduated in 1955. Thereafter, she became one of Malaysia’s earliest Malay women doctors, with a keen focus on public health and maternal and child healthcare.

As a prominent public figure alongside Dr Mahathir, she championed health, women’s welfare, and social causes, including family welfare, women’s development, and drug prevention.

It always amazes us to see the ingenuity and patient focus of surgeons!

On 1st August 2026, our executive committee member, A/Prof Isaac Seow, introduced us to advances in medical treatment in his talk, "Pushing Boundaries in Re**al Cancer Surgery: Less Invasive, More Personalised and Beyond the Robot".

Great to have our dear Dr Puah Ken Lee as our speaker for the talk on "Joint Pain After 50: When to Ignore, When to Treat, and When to Worry"!
The online talk on 25 July 2026 was well attended and drew a robust post-talk question-and-answer session.
