"I was going through a period of change in my life. Through my sessions with my therapist, I was able to gain clarity around what I valued, and this helped to guide my next steps.

I am also working towards maintaining healthier boundaries with people in my life, so that I can take care of my own emotional health and needs while still having authentic relationships."

Sometimes the most important work is not solving a specific problem. It is getting quiet enough to hear what you actually want and need.

We are grateful to the clients who trust us with these moments.

We would like you to meet Chee Huey, one of the counsellors at Reconnect Psychology & Family Therapy.

Chee Huey believes that everyone has the strength and resources to grow, think, and behave differently in ways they had not imagined before. Her approach is warm, supportive, and always guided by where you are and what matters to you.

Before becoming a counsellor, Chee Huey spent over two decades working in HR across the public and social service sectors. That experience gives her a thoughtful understanding of workplace stress, career challenges, and the weight of holding things together at work and at home.

She works with individuals on relationship challenges, life transitions, anxiety, mood concerns, and self-confidence.

We are glad to have her as part of our team.

Stress and burnout are not the same thing.

But they are often confused, and that confusion matters.

Stress is a signal. It builds slowly, often dressed up as just being busy or needing to push through. Burnout is what happens when that signal goes unheard for too long. One asks for attention. The other is a depletion.

Your body often knows before your mind does. Disrupted sleep, a shorter fuse, a flatness you cannot explain. These are not signs of weakness. They are your nervous system asking for something.

Getting support early is not an overreaction. It is one of the most practical things you can do for your work, your relationships, and yourself.

What has your relationship with stress looked like lately?

"I did not realise how much I had been carrying until I finally had a space to put it down."

This is how one of our clients described their experience after a few months of therapy at Reconnect Psychology.

Therapy is not about having everything fall apart. Often it is for people who are holding it all together, but are exhausted from doing so.

We work with individuals, couples, children, and families across Singapore. Every journey looks different. What stays the same is the care we bring to each one.

If you have been on the fence about reaching out, we hope this gives you a gentle nudge. Your story matters. And you deserve support.

Going back to school can be stressful for children 🏫

Some may seem quieter, more irritable, or anxious and that’s completely normal.

Here are some gentle ways you can support them:

✨Listen without judgment. Let them share their feelings, even if it’s something that seems small.

✨Validate their experience. Saying things like, “I can see why this feels hard for you” helps them feel understood.

✨Establish routines. Predictable routines can give a sense of safety and control.

✨Encourage small wins. Celebrate tiny steps, like getting ready on time or sharing with a friend.

Take care of yourself too. Children notice when their caregivers feel calm and supported.

Remember, you don’t need to fix everything. Just being present and patient helps more than you might think.

At Reconnect, we want to offer a different perspective. You don’t need to become someone new; you just need to be supported in being who you already are.

We know that for many, the end of a year brings a mix of exhaustion and hope. If you are entering 2026 feeling tired rather than “inspired,” please know that is okay. Healing isn’t about a fresh start on a specific date, it’s about the quiet, brave decision to keep nurturing your inner world, one day at a time.

We are here, and we see you. đź’ś

As 2025 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the profound privilege of walking alongside so many of you this year.

To our clients: Thank you for trusting us with your stories, your struggles, and your growth. Your courage to show up - even on the hardest days - continues to inspire us. Witnessing your journeys toward healing and connection is why we do this work.

To our fellow professionals and collaborators: Your partnership, referrals, and shared commitment to mental health care strengthen our community. Together, we’re creating a network of support that truly makes a difference.

This year has reinforced what we’ve always believed: healing happens in connection.

We’re deeply grateful to be connected with all of you. Here’s to more growth, compassion, and reconnection in 2026. 💙

Wishing you peace and warmth this holiday season,
The Reconnect Team

✨ Boundaries can be an act of kindness – for you and your family.

3 tips for setting boundaries kindly during holiday gatherings:
– Be clear & brief
– Use “I” statements
– Pair a limit with a positive alternative: “I can’t stay late, but I’d love to have lunch.”

Healthy boundaries help everyone enjoy family gatherings more.

This Christmas, if you’re feeling lonely, even when you’re surrounded by people, here are 3 things you can do to bring warmth back into your day 🤍

These tips are from our counsellor Chee Huey.

1. Name the feeling without judging it
Instead of pushing it away, try saying:
“Something in me feels lonely right now.”
Naming softens the weight we carry.

2. Create one small moment of warmth each day
A warm drink. A scented candle. A favourite song.
Let one simple comfort anchor your day.

3. Perform one tiny act of kindness
Smile at someone. Hold the door. Feed a stray cat.
Giving creates connection.

✨ Loneliness is a visitor. Meet it with gentleness and kindness.
