You never really know where learning might take you.

This is R. S. Vern, author of the literary novel "The Itch of the Middling Cat", and TSPP Alumni.

Her journey at TSPP started with a conscious decision to open up to learn new things, and years later, it turned into a book she didn't set out to write. What she learnt at TSPP wasn't something she had to apply; it just became part of how she thinks and works.

What could positive psychology open up for you?

The more we chase happiness directly, the more it seems to slip away.

That's the paradox Eugene Tee, one of our Positive Psychology faculty, keeps coming back to with his students. Happiness isn't something you catch. It's something that shows up as a byproduct of the life you're building.

His way of putting it: cultivate a garden, tend the soil, water the plants. Don't chase the butterflies, tend to your garden of flourishing, and let the butterflies come to you instead.

It's a small shift, but it changes how you think about the whole pursuit.

This is Chris Galea, one of our lecturers in Coaching Psychology.

For him, teaching isn't about standing at the front of a room. It's about walking alongside his students as they grow, stretch and figure out who they're becoming, one step at a time.

That kind of care doesn't happen by accident. Our faculty bring the same warmth to a classroom that they bring to their own practice, patient, attentive, genuinely invested in the person in front of them, not just the syllabus.

It's easy to talk about academic quality. It's harder to build a place where people also feel held while they learn. That's what we're proud of at TSPP.

If you're looking for an open, supportive space for your own growth and learning journey, come experience it for yourself at our Open House.

If you've picked up an AI tool this year, there's a good chance it actually saved you time. People using it well are getting back close to nine hours a week on repetitive work.

But saved time isn't the same as well-used time. Left alone, it tends to get absorbed by more tasks, more speed, more scrolling, unless you do something deliberate with it instead.

That's the part no tool accounts for. The gap between you and the people around you, between you and what actually matters, doesn't close on autopilot. It closes when you spend the time you got back on it: listening better, sitting with someone, noticing what's going on beneath the surface.

The tools will keep getting faster. What you do with the hours they hand back is still, entirely, up to you.

We got our TSPP staff in a room and asked them one question: what's the one word that holds a nation together?

No time to overthink it, just whatever came to mind first.

What would your one word be? Drop it in the comments, we want to see how many different answers we get ๐Ÿ‘‡

Flourishing has less to do with mindset than you think.

We tend to treat flourishing as a thinking problem. Reframe the thought, fix the outlook, will yourself into a better state. But the research doesn't start there.

Sleep is where the mind processes what the day left unresolved. Without it, stress gets harder to regulate and emotions get harder to read, no mindset shift changes that.

Movement is the second lever, and it works faster than thought does. A short walk can shift a mood that an hour of overthinking couldn't touch.

Mindset still matters. It just isn't the starting point. Trying to think your way to flourishing while running on four hours of sleep is working against yourself, not with it.

This is what positive psychology actually studies. Not positive thinking, but the researched conditions that let people function, recover and grow, starting with the body before the mind.

Small, consistent shifts in these three areas do more than any single big change.

Happy National Wellness Month!

Men are struggling in silence. Why is seeking help still so hard?

In Singapore, nearly two-thirds of su***de deaths are menโ€”yet women make up over 60% of crisis helpline calls.

This contrast reveals a painful reality: there is a massive, life-threatening gap between experiencing emotional distress and actually reaching out for support.

Our lecturer Chris Galea breaks down the psychological roots of this silence.

Watch the video to hear Chris's insights on how we can break the stigma, reframe strength, and support the men in our lives.
