Ren Ci Hospital

Ren Ci Hospital Service with heart and hope Today, Ren Ci operates a community hospital, chronic sick unit, nursing homes and senior care centre.

Established since 1994, Ren Ci Hospital is one of the few charity healthcare institutions in Singapore to provide high quality and affordable medical, nursing and rehabilitative care services for the community, based on the principles of loving kindness and compassion. Ren Ci plays an integral role in supporting the healthcare needs of the elderly through adopting holistic way of delivering person

-centred care. Besides giving hope to the frail elderly by helping overcome their disabilities and teaching their families to care for them at home, Ren Ci also partners various community groups and social enterprises to give dignity back to the elderly. To meet the growing needs of our aging population, we are now preparing to operate a new nursing home within Woodlands Health Campus when ready in 2023.

Attention spans may be getting shorter everywhere else, but not for our nursing home resident Mdm Ong! Despite tremors caused by cerebral palsy, she spent over four hours painstakingly working on her painting. Together with one of our regular volunteers, Ms Kim, she successfully completed a work of art she is incredibly proud of โค

Today marks a meaningful milestone for Singaporeโ€™s palliative care journey with the official opening of Woodlands Hospice.

Jointly operated by Ren Ci Hospital and Woodlands Hospital, in collaboration with Cheng Hong Welfare Service Society - Singapore, Woodlands Hospice is Singapore's first collaboration of its kind between a public hospital, a charity healthcare provider, and a community partner. Over time, Ren Ci Hospital will further build and scale the day-to-day operations of Woodlands Hospice.

At its heart, Woodlands Hospice is a place where patients can live as fully and comfortably as possible, even in their final phase of life. From music and art therapy to volunteer-led activities, family lounge and shared spaces, every aspect of the hospice has been thoughtfully designed to support patients and families physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

We are honoured to have Minister Ong Ye Kung at our official opening event today. Together with our friends and partners, it was a meaningful and cosy ceremony.

On 25 July 2026, Tzu-Chi Foundation SG ๆ…ˆๆตŽๅŸบ้‡‘ไผš and Ren Ci Hospital renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Ren Ci @ Ang Mo Kio, reaffirming our long-standing partnership to provide free dental care for residents of Ren Ci @ Bukit Batok St. 52 and Ren Ci @ Ang Mo Kio.

The initiative provides essential dental services, including scaling, fillings and extractions, helping residents maintain good oral health. Since 2014, both organisations have worked together to care for hundreds of elderly, providing more than 7000 hours of dental care. With the renewed MoU, the partnership will continue through 30 June 2029, ensuring that residents at both nursing homes continue to receive free dental care from Tzu Chi's visiting dental team.

Good oral health plays an important role in our residentsโ€™ overall health, comfort and quality of life, and we are thankful to Tzu Chi Foundation (Singapore) for their support and long-standing partnership in helping us care for our seniors.

We are proud to share that Ren Ci Hospital has been awarded IMDAโ€™s Catalyst Award on 17 July in recognition of our contributions to advancing digital inclusion among seniors through the Digital for Life movement. The award was received on behalf of Ren Ci by Mr Lim Kong Beng, Executive Director of Ren Ci @ Bukit Batok St. 52.

Since partnering with IMDAโ€™s Senior Digital Office in 2023, our Digital Club @ Ren Ci AAC (Care) has conducted over 40 digital literacy sessions, recording almost 1,000 attendees. Through monthly English and Mandarin classes, our seniors have gained practical digital skills that help them stay connected with loved ones, access essential services and navigate an increasingly digital world with confidence.

Learning extends beyond the classroom too. From the Digital for Life Festival and AI Walking Trails in Chinatown to CDC Voucher learning journeys, our seniors have had opportunities to apply their newfound skills in real-life settings, making learning engaging, practical and meaningful.

This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our staff, volunteers, partners and, most importantly, our seniors, whose enthusiasm for lifelong learning continues to inspire us!

Ren Ci's Head of HR Ms Nuryasmin Hannah had the opportunity to speak to the Straits Times about inclusive hiring at Ren Ci. We believe that inclusive hiring is about creating the right environment for every individual to succeed. By setting clear job expectations and making simple workplace accommodations, persons with disabilities can thrive, contribute meaningfully and become valued members of the team, as evidenced by our long-serving staff across Ren Ci's facilities.

When we began hiring PWDs in 2018, we trained them to be part of our Clean Patrol. Today, we have PWD staff who take on varied roles such as gardening assistant and we even have students who are training as healthcare assistants.

Sometimes, all it takes is some flexibility, open communication and a village that is willing to see ability beyond disability. When given the opportunity, people of all abilities can bring unique strengths, perspectives and dedication to the workplace.

While we have met with success here, we keep in mind that more can be done in the broader societal context and hope more organisations will embrace inclusive hiring and take the first step forward.

Caregivers are also worried about how people at work would interact with their loved ones. Read more at straitstimes.com. Read more at straitstimes.com.

Ren Ci is happy to have been an Ecosystem Partner for Smart Health Asia 2026. The trade show stretched over 2 days, bringing together stakeholders from the region to discuss and share about healthtech.

We shared our improvement projects and innovation efforts and our Chief Operating Officer Ms Karen Bek also shared our experience and expertise in eldercare in a panel titled "Aging Well: Strategies, Considerations and Innovation for a Healthier, Happier Ageing Population".

Overall, it was a great opportunity for our team to learn about the latest AI solutions and system integration, share our experience in eldercare, as well as make connections within the industry and diving into discussions that give new insight into leveraging tech in healthcare.
