Ortho-K isn’t for everyone. And honestly? We think that’s the part worth talking about. 👁️

Most of what you hear about orthokeratology focuses on the upside — no daytime lenses, no glasses, clearer vision by morning. But the real story starts with who it’s *not* right for: active eye infections, severe dry eye, very high astigmatism, irregular corneas, or anyone who can’t keep up with consistent lens hygiene. This is a lens worn overnight — the risk only makes sense when the fit is right.

Here’s what most people don’t know: this isn’t new science. Centuries ago, physicians in China used sandbags pressed gently on the eyes overnight to temporarily reshape vision. When your child is told they’re short-sighted, the first instinct is to fix it. Get the drops. Get the lenses. Get the glasses.

Done.

But here’s what nobody tells you at the optical shop: your child isn’t a one-size-fits-all patient.

Two children can walk in with the same prescription and need completely different approaches. One’s myopia is creeping slowly. The other’s is racing. One started at age 6. The other at 11. One thrives with orthokeratology or myopic device lens.

This year, Eyecare People turns 15 — a milestone that fills us with deep gratitude and humility. To every customer, patient, friend, and family member who has placed their trust in us over the years: thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. What we do has never been simply about business. It has always been about people — the relationships we’ve built, the conversations we’ve shared, and the genuine connections that have grown along the way. We are truly honoured that you have allowed us to care for something as precious as your sight. Our mission remains the same as it has always been: to help everyone see well, live well, and thrive — for life.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

1. Eyecare People @ Holland Village — where it all began, tucked in a quiet corner.
2 & 3. Our first store was designed by FARM — modern, woody, and cozy.
4. Many trunk shows, showcasing unique and beautiful eyewear to our customers.
5. We championed Comprehensive Eye Examinations — because good eye health goes beyond seeing clearly.
6. After 9 years, it was time to move on.
7. 2019: A bold relocation to the 20th floor of Novena Square — from street level to the sky!
8. Just 2 months in — Covid hit, and everything changed. 😢
9. We adapted: refining our services and becoming an appointment-based practice to give every patient our full attention.
10 & 11. Post-Covid rents soared, prompting another move — and we found our home at Palais Renaissance. With 3 exam rooms, we can better serve patients and their families.
12 to 15. The wonderful people we’ve had the privilege of serving. ❤️
