Chapter of Hand Surgeons, College of Surgeons Singapore The Chapter of Hand Surgeons is under the College of Surgeons Singapore. Members have the title F.A.M.S.(Hand Surg) behind their names.

Hand Surgeons are specially trained in the treatment of conditions that involve the upper limb. It takes 3 years of specialty training in an accreditated training center in Singapore and an exit examination before a surgeon can apply for membership. Hand Surgeons manage conditions of the upper limb such as trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures, joint dislocations, nerve conditions, wri

st ganglions, wrist pain etc. Some of the common surgical procedures that Hand Surgeons are trained to do include trigger finger release, carpal tunnel release, fracture fixations, excision of ganglions, wrist arthroscopy, minimally invasive procedures. As of 2012, hand surgery residency training was started. This consists of a 6 year training program of which 2 years is surgery in general (SIG) and 4 years in hand surgery which includes electives in orthopaedics, and plastic surgery.
