Learning new things is at the heart of what I enjoy doing.

Always get out there, keep learning, keep motivated.

Key Takeaway: Don’t start watching daytime TV every day in your underpants. 😉

When you bake yourself you know exactly what is inside.

Sometimes running is just for FUN!

22/07/2026

Everyone wants to run faster. Very few are willing to train for speed.

Today’s session was all about changing gears:

🏃 2 × 800m
🏃 6 × 400m
🏃 5 × 200m

This isn’t just about running hard. It’s about teaching your body to recruit more muscle fibres, improve running economy and become more efficient at faster paces.

A mistake I see from runners approaching 50 and beyond is thinking speed work is no longer important.

It’s actually the opposite.

As we age, we naturally lose fast-twitch muscle fibres, stride length and power unless we continue to challenge them. Well-designed speed sessions help maintain neuromuscular coordination, leg stiffness, power and running efficiency…qualities that decline with age if they’re ignored.

Change how you do speed work.

✅ Warm up properly.
✅ Prioritise quality over quantity.
✅ Recover fully between reps.
✅ Don’t race every interval.
✅ Allow more recovery between hard sessions.

You can do more than just survive speed work.

Train smarter and you will get faster.

What’s your favourite interval session?

Not every run is meant to be fast.

Today’s 9 km easy run was all about building base capability.

Keeping the effort comfortable and staying patient.

These are the km that improve your aerobic fitness, help you recover, and make the harder sessions count.

The tempo workouts might get the attention, but the easy runs are where you build consistency.

What’s your favourite type of run: easy km, intervals, or a long run?

I like to run. But it’s so much better when you’re doing it with friends. Enjoy exploring then come join us at the Singapore Harriets! Women led, men are optional 🤣

🏃 Most runners are doing intervals wrong.

Today’s session: 10 × 400m with controlled effort…not flat out.

The goal is to improve running economy, speed endurance, and make race pace feel comfortable.

Train with purpose, not ego. 💪🔥

Today’s workout was about teaching my body to change pace, recover while still moving, and stay efficient when fatigue starts to build.

That doesn’t just help with a faster 5K or 10K. It makes running feel smoother, more controlled, and more enjoyable.

Progress comes from consistent, purposeful training, not just working harder.

If you’re approaching 50, remember: quality beats quantity, and good movement always wins over simply chasing speed.
