Singaporeans are exercising more… but are we actually eating healthier? 👀

According to the latest National Nutrition Survey, 87% of us are getting enough physical activity. But more than half are still eating more calories than they need, while 95% consume too much sodium. Our average sodium intake? Around 4,000mg a day, about DOUBLE the recommended amount. 😳

And it’s not just obviously “unhealthy” food. Soups, sauces, mee siam, fish noodle soup, granola, smoothies and even some foods we think are healthy can contain surprisingly high amounts of calories, sugar or sodium.

The important message: you cannot completely exercise away a poor diet.

Keep exercising 💪 but also watch your portions, go easy on gravy and soup, choose less salty options, and don’t assume something is healthy just because it looks healthy.

Exercise matters.
Diet matters too.
You need BOTH for better health. ❤️

Can psychotherapy actually help improve blood sugar?

A 2026 review of 52 studies found that psychotherapy-based support was linked with better HbA1c control in adults with Type 2 diabetes. After about 3 months, HbA1c was 0.53 percentage points lower on average.

How might it help? 🤔 Approaches such as CBT and motivational interviewing may help people manage stress, emotional eating, motivation and everyday diabetes habits, including diet and medication routines.

⚠️ Psychotherapy does not replace medication, healthy eating or exercise. But it may be a useful additional tool for managing both the mental and physical challenges of Type 2 diabetes.

Today, we look at IRVINS' products.

So which one is the “healthiest”? Aiyah… my page would close down if I called any IRVINS flavour a health food. 😅

The better approach: choose the flavour you actually enjoy, watch your portion, and eat it mindfully.

You don’t need to ban your favourite snacks to eat well. Moderation can also be shiok.

A new 2026 study using UK Biobank data found that greater sunlight exposure was associated with slightly lower blood glucose levels, while people with more frequent long-term sun-seeking habits also showed a lower observed risk of type 2 diabetes.

The researchers suggest possible roles for nitric oxide and vitamin D, but this was an observational study, so it does not prove that sunlight prevents diabetes, and excessive UV exposure still carries skin cancer risk.

Stevia or monk fruit? 🌿

Both can help you cut down on sugar and calories without the same blood glucose spike as regular sugar.

But always check the ingredient list. Some products contain fillers like maltodextrin or dextrose that can still raise blood sugar.

Small switch, big difference.

🍢 Which Tori-Q yakitori gives you the most protein?

We ranked some popular sticks from highest to lowest protein to help you make a better pick.

🌭 Jumbo Sausage was left unranked because it’s more processed than the other options and also comes with a higher calorie count, so I didn’t feel it was a fair comparison.

Protein matters, but the overall quality of the food matters too. 💪

Which stick is your usual order?
