"The Glory | Part 2: The Perpetuation| Between the Lines

The bullying began in a classroom. But the wound was kept alive by everyone who had the power to stop it, and didn't.

Part 2 of our Between the Lines series on The Glory looks at what happens when every system fails a child at once. The teacher who took the money. The school that protected its reputation. The police officer who joined the wrong side. The classmates who stayed silent. And the mother who was supposed to be the first safe place.

Dong-eun didn't just survive her bullies. She survived the entire world around them.

If you've ever felt failed by the people or systems that should have protected you, this one is for you. You did not imagine it. And it was not your fault. Reach out to EMCC if you'd like to talk.

📝Between the Lines is EMCC's ongoing series bringing a mental health lens to the stories you watch.

Expanding Access to Holistic Mental Health Support 🤝

We’re pleased to announce that EMCC is partnering with Dr Ker-Chiah Wei, Senior Consultant at Garden Grove, a psychiatry practice with clinics in Joo Chiat and Mount Alvernia Hospital, to provide psychiatric services to clients.

With more than 25 years of clinical experience, Dr Wei was previously Head of the Department of Community Psychiatry and subsequently a Region Chief at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). He is passionate about making psychiatric care accessible to the community and supporting individuals on their road to recovery.

Through this partnership, EMCC and Dr Wei will be able to offer clients both psychiatric and counselling support where appropriate. We hope this collaboration will help individuals access the right support for their needs, across a broader range of mental health services.

We look forward to working with Dr Wei to support more individuals in their journey towards hope and restoration.

The Glory | Part 1: The Wound | Between the Lines

She was 17. Burned, bruised, and completely alone. The bullies left marks on her body.

But the systems that were supposed to protect her, left marks on something deeper. They taught her that she was not worth saving.

This post is not just about a drama. It is about what unaddressed trauma actually looks like, in the body, in the nervous system, in the quiet way a person learns to stop expecting anyone to show up.

In Part 1, we look at how trauma lives in the body as sensory memory and what trauma agency look like.

Because understanding a character is sometimes the first step to understanding yourself, or someone you love.

📝Between the Lines is an ongoing series by EMCC where we bring a mental health lens to the stories you watch, to help you connect, reflect, and build insight.

Part 2 coming soon🌸

🇸🇬 Happy National Day, Singapore!

As we celebrate the people, stories, and communities that make our nation home, we hope this season also reminds us of the importance of caring for one another.

May we continue building a Singapore where mental wellbeing is valued, support is always within reach, and no one has to journey life's challenges alone.

Wishing everyone a joyful National Day and a restful long weekend with your loved ones. ❤️🤍

What happens when we pause to care for the people behind the performance?

Yesterday, EMCC had the privilege of facilitating an 🌱Artist Well-being Circle🌱for the cast and crew of The Parting Glass at Gateway Arts, as part of our ongoing collaboration for the upcoming production.

Over the course of the session, we intentionally slowed down together. Through guided reflection and conversation, participants shared what resonated most deeply from the script, described the season of life they are currently in, reflected on what they need to feel more supported, and committed to one small habit to care for their own wellbeing in the month ahead.

Creative work often asks artists to pour deeply of themselves. By creating space to pause, reflect, and connect with one another, the Well-being Circle aims to strengthen not just the individuals, but the collective, fostering healthier ways of working that place wellbeing at the heart of the creative process without compromising artistic excellence.

Thank you to the 10 cast and crew members who joined us with such openness and honesty, and to Gateway Arts for partnering with us in caring for the people behind the production.

As 🥂The Parting Glass🥂 invites audiences into a story of love, loss, and what it means to hold on and let go, we're grateful to play a small part in supporting the team who will soon bring these stories to life on stage. We look forward to seeing the production come alive.
