Blepharitis can be managed, but some everyday habits might be quietly making it worse. 👁

Dr Petrina Tan highlights some of the most common culprits: sleeping in makeup, rubbing your eyes out of habit, using eye products past their expiry date, poor contact lens hygiene, and prolonged exposure to hot and humid environments. Most people are doing at least a couple of these without thinking twice.

A quick reminder on contact lenses: they should never be worn to sleep, swim, or shower. It sounds simple, but it makes a bigger difference than most people realise.

If your blepharitis keeps coming back despite your best efforts, Dr Petrina Tan recommends getting it properly assessed by an eye care professional.

Waking up with crusty, gritty eyes every morning and putting it down to a bad night's sleep? 👁️

It might be worth looking a little closer. Blepharitis is an inflammation along the eyelid margin, often caused by blocked oil glands or bacterial buildup along the lash line. It is one of the most common eye conditions seen in Singapore, where the heat and humidity create the perfect environment for it to develop.

Three things to watch out for: crusty lashes in the morning, a burning sensation that eases as the day goes on, and redness along the lid margin.

You do not need all three to have blepharitis. If even one of these sounds familiar, it is worth getting your eyes properly checked. 🩺

If you have noticed cloudiness or persistent glare, it might be time to prioritize your eye health. 👁️ 🩺

Cataract surgery is a common procedure that restores clarity by replacing the natural lens with an artificial one. However, many patients do not realize that lens selection is a customized process. Factors such as how much you drive, how often you use a computer, and your overall visual goals are all part of the planning stage. 📝

In this video, Dr Jay Siak explains why the most suitable lens is the one that best supports your daily activities and visual needs. 👨‍⚕️

Take the first step towards better vision by understanding your options during a professional assessment.

If your eyes feel dry, tired, or slightly blurry by the afternoon, you might have brushed it off as just another long day in front of a screen.

But for many people, especially those who wear contact lenses daily, these are signs worth paying attention to.

In this video, we follow someone who decided to get their eyes properly checked at Eagle Eye Centre after noticing that the discomfort was starting to affect their day-to-day. The dry eye screening includes vision testing, tear film assessment, and corneal surface imaging using a microscope that shows the condition of the eye surface in detail.

It's a quick, straightforward check that can tell you a lot about your eye health, especially for conditions that don't always come with obvious warning signs. 🩺

Pain. Redness. Sensitivity to light. These aren't symptoms to brush off or wait out. 👁️

Uveitis is inflammation inside the eye, and what makes it particularly concerning is that the damage it causes, including complications affecting the lens, optic nerve, and retina, can develop before many people think to seek help.

In this video, Dr Jay Siak of Eagle Eye Centre talks about what uveitis is, why timing matters, and what can be done when it is caught and treated appropriately.

If your eyes have been persistently red, painful, or sensitive to light, don't delay. Book a consultation with us at www.eagleeyecentre.com.sg 🩺

If you've ever looked into laser eye surgery and been told LASIK isn't suitable for you, you're not alone, and you still have options. 👀

Factors like corneal thickness, prescription strength, dry eye history, and lifestyle all play a role in determining which vision correction procedure is the right fit. At Eagle Eye Centre, we offer a range of procedures precisely because no two pairs of eyes are the same.

ZEISS SMILE Pro 2 - minimally invasive with no flap created, suitable for those with active lifestyles or concerns about dry eyes

FemtoLASIK - bladeless laser vision correction using a femtosecond laser for precise and consistent flap creation, suitable for a wide range of prescriptions

PRK / Epi-LASIK - surface-based laser procedures that do not require flap creation, often considered for patients with thinner corneas or specific lifestyle requirements

EVO ICL - an implantable lens placed inside the eye rather than on the cornea, suitable for higher degrees of short-sightedness or patients with thinner corneas

Understanding which procedure may be appropriate for you starts with a proper clinical assessment. Our team is here to guide you through your options. 🩺

👁️ Those tiny specks floating across your vision, are they something to worry about?
您眼前漂浮的小斑点,真的需要担心吗?

Most of us have seen them at some point. Those little dots, threads, or shadowy shapes that drift across your vision when you look at a bright screen or a clear sky. But not everyone knows what they mean or when to take them seriously.
我们许多人都曾看过这些影像。那些在您盯着明亮屏幕或晴空时,眼前飘过的小点、细线或阴影状物体。但并非每个人都知道它们代表什么,或何时该认真对待。

This Thursday at 2.10 PM, Dr. Desmond Quek sits down with DJ Violet Fenying on Love 972 FM to talk all things floaters. What causes them, when they are harmless, and when they are a sign that you should see a doctor sooner rather than later.
本周四下午2点10分,郭栋梁医生将与 DJ 陈粉樱在 Love 972 FM 畅聊飛蚊症的一切。从成因到何时无需担心,以及何时该尽快就医。

Tune in live and send in your questions. Dr. Quek will be answering them on air, in real time.
