I asked my husband a very simple question…

“Would you prefer me to have toned arms or toned legs?”

His answer?

Apparently, I’ve been working on the wrong kind of tone. 🤣

So here I am at Pilates…
working on my arms, my legs, my core…
and perhaps my tone of voice too. 😂

Ladies, please tell me I’m not alone.

👇 Ask your husband the same question and come back to tell us what he says.
Or tag him here if you dare. 🤭

And if you’d rather work on the kind of tone we can help you with, come join us for Pilates at Inspire Mum & Baby. 💪

A child who can swim can still make an unsafe decision around water.

And sometimes, the more confident they become, the more important this lesson becomes.

WAIT. ✋

At Inspire Mum & Baby, we start teaching children to wait before entering the pool from the time they are able to walk.

Because once they can walk, they can run.

And we don’t want a child to associate seeing a pool with immediately running towards it or jumping in — especially as their swimming confidence grows.

So before entering the water, we practise:

💦 Sit and wait
💦 Listen for Mummy, Daddy or Teacher
💦 Enter only when you’re given the cue

It may look like such a small part of a swimming lesson.

But imagine a condo pool, a hotel pool or a family holiday. Your child runs ahead while you’re still putting down the bags — and decides, “I know how to swim.”

That’s exactly why swimming ability and water safety need to be taught together.

We don’t just want to raise confident swimmers.

We want children who respect the water and know how to make safer choices around it. 💙

Do you teach your child to WAIT before entering a pool? SAVE this and SHARE it with another parent.

Looking for swimming lessons that teach beyond just swimming skills? Comment “SWIM” and we’ll send you our class details. We start from as young as 8 weeks old. 💦

Would your child know what to do if they fell into the water fully clothed? 💦

Because real life doesn’t happen in a swimsuit.

If a child accidentally falls into a pool, chances are they won’t be dressed and ready for a swim.

They could be wearing a T-shirt. Shorts. A dress. Maybe even shoes.

And clothes DO feel different in water. They can feel heavier, restrict movement and make an unexpected fall even more unfamiliar.

That’s why we believe swimming lessons shouldn’t only teach children what to do under perfect conditions.

At Inspire Mum & Baby, we want children to learn how to apply their skills when the situation feels different — staying calm, orientating themselves, turning, reaching for safety and getting back to the wall.

Because learning a swimming skill is one thing.

👉 Being able to use that skill when you weren’t expecting to be in the water is another.

We’re not just teaching children to swim.

We’re helping them build skills that could matter when they need them most. ❤️

Would YOUR child know what to do?

Comment “SWIM” and we’ll send you details of our children’s swim programmes.

Haze outside? 🌫️ Rain again? 🌧️

When children are learning to swim, consistency really matters.

Long breaks can mean having to spend time getting comfortable with the water and routines again — especially for our younger babies and toddlers.

That’s why having an indoor heated pool makes such a difference for our classes. Rain, heat or haze outside, we can continue swimming comfortably indoors. 💦

It means more regular practice, more opportunities to build water confidence and more time for your child to enjoy learning in the water.

Our swim classes start from as young as 8 weeks old, and continue through the baby, toddler and children’s stages. 🤍

Thinking of starting your little one on swimming?

Your body changes so much during pregnancy — but that doesn’t mean you have to stop moving. 🤰✨

As your pregnancy progresses, your posture changes, your centre of gravity shifts, and your back, hips and pelvis have to work harder to support your growing baby.

This is where the RIGHT kind of prenatal exercise can make such a difference.

In Prenatal Pilates, we work on:
✨ Strength and support for your changing body
✨ Hip and spinal mobility
✨ Posture, control and body awareness
✨ Staying strong and mobile as pregnancy progresses
✨ Preparing your body for birth AND postnatal recovery

Especially in the later stages of pregnancy, it’s not simply about what exercises you do — it’s about choosing and adapting them for YOUR body.

That’s one of the biggest benefits of our 1-to-1 Prenatal Reformer Pilates sessions. We can adjust the session according to your stage of pregnancy, how your body is feeling that day and what you personally need to work on.

After almost 20 years of working with prenatal and postnatal mums, this is something we strongly believe:

Pregnancy isn’t a time to become afraid of movement. It’s a time to learn how to move well for your changing body. 🤍

Prefer a group setting? We also offer Prenatal Matwork Pilates.

💬 Comment “REFORMER” and we’ll send you more information about our private 1-to-1 sessions.

Can Reformer Pilates help with pregnancy back pain? 🤰

Back aches, pelvic discomfort, tight hips, feeling heavier as your bump grows… these are things we hear from our prenatal mums all the time.

And this is exactly why how you move during pregnancy matters.

For 19 years, we’ve been working with women through pregnancy, birth and postnatal recovery — and one thing we’ve learnt is that prenatal exercise is about so much more than simply “staying active”.

The right Pilates programme can help you:

✨ Strengthen the muscles supporting your growing belly and changing posture
✨ Improve core and pelvic stability
✨ Maintain mobility as your body changes
✨ Better manage common pregnancy aches and discomfort
✨ Build the strength and body awareness you’ll need as you prepare for birth
✨ Give your body a stronger foundation for postnatal recovery

Because we’re not only thinking about how your body feels now.

We’re thinking about how you’ll move through the rest of your pregnancy, prepare for birth, and how your body will recover afterwards too. 🤍

For mums who want more individual attention, our 1-to-1 Prenatal Reformer Pilates sessions are guided by a prenatal specialist and tailored to your stage of pregnancy, your body and what you need that day.

Prefer exercising with other mums? We also offer Prenatal Matwork Pilates group classes.

Pregnancy changes your body enormously. You don’t have to simply put up with every ache and wait until after birth to start looking after it.

🤰 **Is Reformer Pilates safe during pregnancy?**

Yes — **when it’s adapted for pregnancy and guided appropriately.**

Pregnancy doesn’t necessarily mean you have to stop exercising. But it DOES mean your body is changing — and your Reformer workout should change with it.

In our Prenatal Reformer Pilates sessions, we modify exercises according to your stage of pregnancy and focus on what your body needs now:

✨ Strengthening the legs & glutes
✨ Supporting the core safely
✨ Improving posture as your belly grows
✨ Maintaining hip & pelvic mobility
✨ Building upper-body strength for motherhood
✨ Using breathing and movement with better control

And no — prenatal Reformer Pilates shouldn’t simply be a normal Pilates class with a few exercises removed.

It should be **designed around the pregnant body.** 🤍

At Inspire Mum & Baby, we’ve been working with pregnant mums since 2007, helping women stay strong, mobile and confident throughout pregnancy.

🤰 **Pregnant and wondering if Reformer Pilates is suitable for YOU?**

📱 **Your child’s screen time may be affecting more than their eyes.**

Research involving MRI scans of preschool children has found associations between higher screen use and differences in the brain’s white matter — the pathways involved in developing skills such as language, literacy and executive function.

And a review of **42 studies involving 18,905 children** found that greater screen use was associated with poorer language skills.

But this isn’t about making parents feel guilty. ❤️

Screens are part of our lives. The bigger question is:

**What is screen time replacing?**

Instead of another 30 minutes on a device, could it be:

🏊 Swimming
⚽ Kicking a football
🛝 Playing at the playground
🚲 Riding a bike
🌳 Exploring outdoors
📚 Reading together
💬 Simply talking and playing with you

Children don’t only develop through what we teach them.

**They develop through what they DO, SEE, FEEL and EXPERIENCE.**

Singapore’s Ministry of Health recommends:
👶 Under 18 months: No screen use, except interactive video calls
🧒 18 months–6 years: Less than 1 hour/day outside school
👧 7–12 years: Less than 2 hours/day outside school, excluding schoolwork
🍽️ Screen-free mealtimes
🌙 No screens for 1 hour before bedtime

So maybe we don’t need to just say **“less screen time.”**

Let’s give our children **more REAL time.** ❤️

💬 What’s your child’s favourite screen-free activity — swimming, playground, cycling, football, reading or something else?

🔖 **SAVE this for later and SHARE it with another parent.**

Baby crying or unsettled after a feed? 👶 It could be trapped wind.

And sometimes, the usual over-the-shoulder burping just doesn’t seem to do the trick.

Here’s a gentle rolling burp technique you can try:

Support baby securely around the jaw/chest area, keep baby upright, and gently guide the upper body in slow, controlled circles.

The gentle movement and change in position may help trapped air move upwards and make it easier for baby to burp. 💨

✨ Keep the movements slow and gentle
✨ Always support baby’s head and neck appropriately
✨ Stop if baby seems uncomfortable

Every baby is different — and crying after feeding isn’t always due to gas. If your baby is frequently distressed, vomiting, feeding poorly or you’re concerned about their symptoms, speak with your healthcare professional.

Know a new mum or dad who might need this? Send this Reel to them. 🤍

Save this for your next feed too!

Your workout can come with a tiny sidekick. 👶🤍

One of the biggest challenges for new mums wanting to return to exercise? Finding a time when someone else can look after baby.

So… bring baby along.

Our Postnatal Pilates classes are designed for mums to focus on rebuilding strength, core control and confidence after birth — while keeping baby close.

Baby may sleep beside you, watch Mum work out, or occasionally decide to join the action. 😄 And that’s completely okay.

Because getting stronger after birth shouldn’t depend on having the “perfect” childcare arrangement.

Tag or share this with a new mum who needs to know she doesn’t have to choose between caring for baby and caring for herself.
