In this episode of the SGH Hospital of the Future podcast, Professor Keith McNeil, Commissioner for Excellence and Innovation in Health, Government of South Australia, shares why successful digital transformation begins with people, not technology.

Drawing on his experience implementing electronic medical records, Professor McNeil explains that the greatest challenge is often not the technology itself, but helping people understand why change is needed.

When leaders can clearly articulate the purpose behind transformation, acknowledge the challenges involved, and paint a compelling picture of the future, they are more likely to bring teams along on the journey.

Join hosts Associate Professor Goh Su-Yen and Dr Amanda Lam as they explore leadership, change management, and the human side of digital transformation.

Not every patient needs to visit the clinic, so why make them?

A team from SGH created a smart automated system* that lets doctors monitor patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) remotely. The results? Possibly reducing unnecessary clinic visits and shorter waiting times.

Special thanks to SGH AIA, SGH Autoimmunology and Rheumatology Centre (ARC), SGH Division of Medicine Citizen Coders, SGH Value Based Care Office and SGH Rheumatology and Immunology for making this innovation possible.

*The team is currently piloting this model of care to evaluate its effectiveness and patient outcomes.

Our Bowyer Block Clock Tower welcomed two special visitors, Asian Openbills!

Recognisable by the distinctive gap in their beaks, these large greyish-white storks are still considered an uncommon sight in Singapore. Even in the heart of a busy hospital campus, nature is never too far away.

Have you spotted any interesting wildlife around SGH lately?

In this episode of the SGH Hospital of the Future podcast, Professor Keith McNeil, Commissioner for Excellence and Innovation in Health, Government of South Australia, explores a question facing healthcare leaders everywhere: how do we encourage innovation while remaining grounded in evidence based medicine?

Professor McNeil explains that innovation does not happen in opposition to evidence. Instead, evidence based medicine provides the stable foundation from which new ideas can be tested, evaluated, and refined.

To drive meaningful change, healthcare organisations need both strong guardrails and the courage to explore new approaches. It is this balance between proven practice and thoughtful experimentation that creates the conditions for innovation to flourish.
Join hosts Associate Professor Goh Su-Yen and Dr Amanda Lam as they discuss leadership, innovation, and the future of healthcare transformation.
