Ever feel like a single failure has completely defined your story? In the battle of Ai, Israel proved that failure is never the final chapter. God specializes in working in the dark to renew His covenant with His people, beautifully transforming their deepest shame into strength.

True victory is always His gift, calling us to trust His unseen plan and obey Him even when our mistakes feel like they are sinking us. However, when that breakthrough comes, we must anchor our renewed relationship in worship rather than self-congratulation, because celebrating our wins without honoring God inevitably leads to pride.

Joshua 6 is a story of faith, obedience, and grace.
Day after day, Israel followed God’s instructions even when they could not see the results. In the end, the walls of Jericho came tumbling down and they were devoted to destruction. But there was Rahab, who was spared and again reminded us of God’s grace. Though she was far from God’s standard of righteousness, she was saved because she placed her faith in the God of Israel.
“By faith the walls of Jericho fell down.” (Hebrews 11:30)

When we prepare for big battles (physical or mental), we tend to equip ourselves with rest and physical strength. But sometimes, God has another plan. What seems crazy or unexpected for us might just be His best orchestrated process to mould and shape us in order for us to truly circumcise our hearts and depend on Him. Whether it’s a “Wow and Wonders” miracle at the Red Sea or the “Steady Steps” required at the Jordan River, God’s presence remains our constant sustenance. In our latest Bible Study session, we compared Exodus 14 and Joshua 3 to see how faith looks different in every season. Sometimes we are called to stand firm and watch Him work spectacularly, and other times we are called to consecrate ourselves and walk forward ordinarily. No matter the tone of the journey, the invitation is the same: to look for and depend on Him in every single step.

Sebelumnya, kita telah belajar tentang kebaikan dan kejatuhan tiga ragam kasih alamiah: keluarga (storge), romansa (eros), dan persahabatan (filia). Kasih alamiah itu indah adanya, tetapi juga dapat menimbulkan pemberhalaan.

Lalu, bagaimana kasih ilahi (agape) berkaitan dengan ketiga kasih alamiah? Persisnya, bagaimana kasih ilahi memberdayakan dan menguduskan kasih alamiah, sebagaimana tukang kebun memberdayakan kebun dengan siraman air dan nutrisi?

Love is beautiful ❤️; but love can also mislead us 💔. Additionally, when love becomes our highest authority, it slowly turns into an idol 🗿.

Eros is a gift from God. But even this type of love finds its true place only when it is subjected to Him.
